Hi!

This is something that came up to my mind and is a wish for the far future of LFS:
Most of us agree that pitlanes should, in the future, get crewmembers on your very own pit. Also a lot of people agree that it isn't too realistic to have a HUD on the screen, with all those usually unavailable information like split-time etc.
When we take a look at racing before telemetric systems and radio came we see team-crew members hold up big signs to the driver on the start/finishing-lane. Wouldn't this be a nice and addition to LFS? Remove the HUD, add the sign-plates. They could show your last round-time, left laps to race, split time and, when needed, tell you to hit the pits next round because your car is damaged, or the like.
A sign would read something alike the following:
+--------+
|Vain 8th
|12 / 20
|1:26:24
|-0:01:58
+--------+
Then I'd know I am on position 8, having 12 laps remaining, did a not-too-bad lap for a XRT on Blackwood GP and still have 1:58 seconds to the driver in front of me. If I was directly followed by an enemy (and he is closer than I am to the one in front of me) the last line would perhaps read +0:00:38 if he was really close.
We could completely get rid of the HUD this way.
(Except technical stuff like tyres and damage-screens.)
Opinions? Objections? Gasoline and matches?

Board signs are still in use - just watch F1

Anyhow, it's a good idea - would me give that ekstra bit of "im there" sensation.
