Haha, actually that's the same thing I had to do to fix
Jive Jones' guitar, at least, one of the many things I had to do as the guitar was trash, I cant be bothered to play on it.
The thing you have to do is lower the Nut, wich is the thing that guides the strings to the tuning pegs on the neck.
The way I did it was simply take it off and sandgrind it carefully. It's a wise thing to check how much mm you want to take off before grinding it.
Glue it back where it came from with care and it should be much better now.
Of course, the other part making the strings hoover is the bridge. You should be able to lower it a bit with the screws on the bridge baseplate.

Jive Jones had 2 hit songs for like a couple of months, but after that nobody remembered him anymore, he just vanished.
He's more active behind the music-scenes. He's produced songs for tons of stars like Madonna. I think.
He's a total douche, but yeah, it's kind of him for giving me his guitar.
