Different LFS version sound comparision and old fart talk
Just getting bored here, thought that someone may not know how old LFS was, so I made one lap in new and old, nothing special, but listen to those sounds, I'm sure patch v sounds are better if someone disagrees he must be hearing problems

0.1 vs Patch v

Really weird to drive that old version, there is loads of grip, but when it starts to slip grip will get lost all of sudden and completely, needs really fast hands.

Those gearbox sounds of patch v gtr cars are nothing compared to noise of turbo in old 0.1, man that was loud :insane:
That Blackwood chicane was also scene of many wrecks, it really is not so difficult when doing single, but if there was other car near it usually ended up to tires or wall causing nice pileups.

Todays nice and fluffy LFS is sure easy and friendly compared to early stages, hmm I think I like older somehow more, it is kind of more brutal in a way, not for arcade gamers for sure

Oh yes, just ignore my driving, I know it sucks, but not everyone can be an alien
I seem to recall the chicane being flat-out (or very close to it) in the GTT (now known as the XRT).

Oh yeah, and I had forgotten just how rough the dip in the backstraight was.
Man, as shitty as the sound and graphics may be in 0.1... those were the golden years, hands down!!!! Just watching that turbo drive looks like so much fun

And then going to see our current version is amazing. It is a big step up, and almost looked real

You should do a side-by-side comparison.
I prefer the old engine sound tbh. the new ones are much to alike and much to spaceship for me

You can get them here:

I did use 0.1M which I had on HDD for some reason

I have absolutely no any knownledge how to put two video clips side by side, I really could use of that in other things too, but I have failed to find how to do it.

Youtube did mess audio and video quality a bit, that turbo whine is not quite as loud as it was before uploading.

I think that chicane is actually flat out, but that was with pretty much default su and default su was not as good then as what we have now. I think I changed only anti roll bars and bit of springs, but certainly did not made proper tweaking, well almost same su was used with patch v too. Biggest flaw is that I really can't drive fast

We have now engine sounds that actually start to sound like an engine and we will get updates for it when Scawen returns from holiday, I really do prefer these new ones, throttle position affects sound too I can't recall any other sim where it would be so informative.
thanks m8!
Wow, ive been playing since the patch T version. I never relised how different it was in 0.1. I mean, the stearing wheel looks like its got tape on it! The graphics looks quite terrible, and BL is a completely different track! But hey, in a few years time, we'll be looking at patch v and talking about how crappy the graphics and sounds are! It'll all change again for the better. And i cant wait.

Quite the opposite in my opinion
Am I the only one who would actually prefer the old BL GP graphical look? It looked more like a ruined, rusty, old track. That's why I use the ruined BL GP texture update by Taavi

JTbo: you have wrong version number in the video name

What video name, what version? Could be as I'm prone to errors :P

I like old blackwood looks too actually, also I liked a lot from that bump middle of long straight, made some character to track, I think new one is too good, it makes track to look more real if there is small errors, rarely there is perfect smooth track, there is quite big errors actually in real life.
it says "LFS 0.3v BL1 XRT"... current version is 0.5V. And you could add "S2" to it too

Ah thx, I'm not keeping up with all these numbers going so fast

Should be ok now
