I love to play with no names over cars and without player list, so everytime a race starts, i have to tap the "N" a couple of times to get rid of them.
It would be nice if this could be remembered in the next race, when i start LFS again, it can go back to default, but i just want it to remember while having multiple races... so either to remember it, or to have an option, like "names over cars and player list - off by default, on by default" or something like that...

Once I hit N to get rid of the connection list, it is gone until I hit N again, even in the next race . Perhaps it's different because I keep "names above cars" enabled and only get rid of the list.

Yep, players stay off in the next race, but names over cars are ON.. so i have to tap "N" once, than the player list apears again, second time, player list is gone, but names over cars are not, and then third time, they both goes OFF.. so three times taping it every race...
I know, it is not big deal, but it would be really cool if it could remember that i don't want names over cars in the next race, too..

That's not the way it is here.
You get a connection list briefly at the start of a race, (not the same as the one you would send setups via, though) but that's it, and that's only temporary and you don't see any names above cars.

If I deactivate the names and conn. list using the N button, they're gone until I turn them on again.

Strange, names automatically turns ON again at the start of the every race in my case..
It is kinda random actually, i know that sometimes thay stayed off, but 90% of the cases, they turn back on.. I'll test this a bit more..

Connections list appears for a moment at race start. It disappears automagically! Magic!

Borris, what is outlined above I think may be your problem. Perhaps you are seeing the connection list as it comes up for just a moment and hitting N at race start. You are already set to see no names or list, so that takes you back to seeing the list. It gets me sometimes as well.

They really stay off (names and list) in the next race if i don't touch the "N" button..
It's because i sometimes press N to send a setup, or to recieve a setup, or something like that, so the names and list apear in the next race..
Sorry for confusion, i should really investigate more before i make another "suggestion" or bug report next time..
But, neverthless, it would be cool to have an option "turn off names and list at the start of each race"
