I Want An Rb26dett In A Boat
I think that oneday when im rich or average i will get a boat..(not massive but a good size one)..and put an rb26dett..most boats have 350's or 454's stock nowadays and lots of ppl swap their motors in boats too..so y not mix it up and get an rb26dett boat prepared by a shop (water log exits and all) and get it installed in your boat..that would be one tasty mofo..u could even modifie it liek crazy lol and convert it to a sigle turbo if yea want..but i would want to find some way of keeping the 6 speed transmisson instead of a 1 speed boat transmisson this would rock sooo much!
My Dad used to build boats and cars.

I spent better bart of my childhood in boats, one I remember well, it had 12 liter 6-cylinder turbo engine from truck (real truck, not american pick-up) and also transmission from truck, 24 gears or something like that it had and it was damn fast too even it looked like junk outside.

B6304T if im not mistaking?

from a volvo s80 t6 or xc90 T6 (3 litre I6 Turbo)

A real engine

There's a video on youtube of a Skyline engined boat.

Yes, his plans were to get +600hp and install that to lightened 340 3dr shell = loads of fun

Penta 8.1Gxi is nice engine too and it is real boat engine

F1 engine won't be too good in a boat as it has poor torque at low rpm, also engine should take hours of use at full load and in boat full load is more than in car, so engine is under more stress and need to be stronger.

Check my favorites from youtube, there is clip from one nice boat
This is the engine I want.

-So what do you think propels a boat? Torque, or horsepower? Are you also familar torque band curves in relation to engine rpm? My point is, horsepower is much less a factor when applied in an average boat.

Also fixed your spelling errors and grammer.

Rather Large for speed boat at least

My father was building those size engines, was exciting to listen stories when I was kid how they were build, just incredible those dimensions in them
im just saying that it would be cool as 5ha7 to have a rb26 in a boat..and imgaine what it would sound like with the water muflling the exhaust lol..i think u just hook the drive shaft to a propellar and mount it and all the other shit and itll be done..heres the steps in detail of how do put a skyline motor in a boat..
steps:
step 1:buy a 2 seater boat
step 2:get an rb26dett engine
step 3ut engine in boat
step 4:goto the lake and drive like a crazy perosn and show off!

Sure it would work out, there is of course this salt water vs aluminium thing on exhaust side that is needed to be careful with...
I'm just not sure if that engine has torque at lower rpm? It is revving quite high as what I have understood.

What on earth is 5ha7 ??? five hours at seven ???
most lakes (in the US anyways) aren't salt water.

5ha7 is l33t speak for shat, the past tense of shit
This is my mate Bug which has a Suzuki Hayabusa engine in

I want the moon on a stick. And a golden loo.

We tend not to get these things unless you work at them though.
Why would you want a little nissan motor? You can just get two GM supercharged ZZ572 motors, with like 1500+ HP each....

Or you can get boat with bloody jet engine in it, not just one but TWO jet engines
Say welcome to hearing loss and early death, but damn that thing would be fun, maybe not for small lakes though

However I find it really hard to choose which one would be better, two supercharged V8's or jet engines? Maybe to get both of them? Well, luckily there is this thing called reality, most likely I will never ever get even boat with 20hp Mercruiser in it

Talking of boats and reality....I was out with my Dad in his sailing boat, which has a small diesel engine. We filled up the tank with about $15 of diesel. As the guy next to us finished putting a couple of hundred dollars of petrol into his speedboat, he remarked that he wished it only cost him $15 gas for a day on the boat. He was really pissed when we told him that would last us through the rest of the season!

Boat motors are all about torque. A 2.6L Turbo is never going to pull a boat out of the hole and up on plane the way a V8 would, at least not in a large boat. Turbo 4s do work fine in Jet Skis though.... Oh, and boats don't need transmissions, that's what differently pitched propellers are for. A boat's range of speed is much smaller than a car, so it really doesn't need a transmission. A very fast boat might hit 65 mph, which is still first gear in some cars, there's really no need for gearing.

65Mph, well that is not fast yet, check links above, even that hilmersson racing's 2,5 liter turbo engine powered boat is faster but at least those jet boats are, 190mph do not race against one of those with V8
yea..well..i wasnt saying to have a rb26 in a boat to be fast though.. i was just saying it would be cool!not fast lol..but it would be super killer!
It doesn't really matter what engine you put in a boat as the greatest limiter of speed is the hull shape, unless you've got a boat that lifts out of the water, or an ekranoplan.

My Dad owns a yacht, a 28' wooden motor sailor. It lies in dis-repair now but when she was working she was a very fast boat - being made by Fairie Marine, Fairie don't know how to make something that isn't fast.

We got hailed on the radio one day by the life guard and although i've long forgotten the semmantics and specifics, it went something like this,

"just curious, what speed ARE you doing? Because we clocked you over 14 kts and we thought our equipment was fine."

"we're doing 15.5 kts sir.".

"Jesus Christ, under sail?"

"Yes, sir.".

That is true, especially with larger boats where you can sleep too, in aerodynamics you have to make precise calculations but with boats it is even more important that design is made properly, smaller error makes more resistance/bad handling etc.

Ekranoplan is funny thing, is it a boat or is it a plane, who can tell, but those are really weird machines anyway with many big engines
