descaled / deionized water. if you use alu blocks you need additives to kill algae that will form. with copper, it is not necessary.

there aren't better coolants than water for this use. there are some specialised fluids that are way way way expensive

it is pointless to use non-freezing liquids: with watercooling the lowest possible temperature for the water is the temperature of your room. Unless you live in siberia, you are ok with normal water.

if you use phase-change and you manage to go below 2-3C then, yes, you might need antifreeze coolant, but if you were using a chiller you wouldn't be asking here :P

lol @ riced cpu case

cpu powa! yoyo

its not tap water or de-ionized (bad because of impurities), its Distilled water floating round a rather rubbish Zalman Reserator
I have a huge spoiler on my case and a sticker that says AMD Type R. I got a l337 spinner on my CPU fan that is t3h p1mp and a 12 disc CD changer instead of a DVD drive.

Or maybe not

Standard case all the way.

Ditto, POS PSU but does it's job (just).

oi! it works, takes the load my meager system produces!
It only just powers mine. It's isn't common for my system to crap out when it's really eating the power. I should buy a new one, but I can't be bothered.
the cheapo 350w PS in my box died recently, and replaced it with a cheapo 600w PS. actually, the PS was fine, but the bearings in one of its fans crapped out and was making the most god awful squeal. and its easier to just replace the whole damn thing than just one of th internal fans.

I know the cheapo PS aren't very good or reliable around their max power rating, but i'm no where near it, so it should be more than sufficient for my needs.

You are wrong.

Functions of car coolant (which for example I'm using in water cooling system) are 1. prevent freezing 2. prevent corrosion 3. prevent any lime growing that would block whole thing sooner or later.
Also there is this nasty thing when using different metals, where less pure metal will disappear, coolant will reduce that effect too. (Sorry, I have little shortcut now, can't remember all those english terms)
However it will not make cooling better, it will make it worse, so there you are right, it is not to be used in hope of getting better cooling.

Everone should remember to do their computer whatever _they_ like, that is most important, don't care other's opinions at all, just do things, create, be original. Of course on some things it is good to listen what others have to say, but don't ever let other live your life

You failed to understand the principle of ricing!

See in the attachment how I cunningly placed three Arctic Cooling stickers on my case, even though there is only one product currently present. Also notice the Gigabyte-sticker, which is also from a product that no longer resides in the case. But no, the system runs win2k SP4, so there really isn't any TCPA-software on it, though the hardware is present.
And other indicators of incredible craftsmanship are the DVD-device that isn't in the place it should be, so I always have to open the door to access it, and the black thing in the floppy-slot, which is a 80GB hard-drive which isn't where it is supposed to be either.

You certainly need to improve, look here maybe you could use some of ideas?

My computer looks almost riced too, when you open it and point couple of flashlights into it

I did this many years ago. I didn't bother with the computer internals as you shove it under the desk and never see it. The way I saw it, I use the keyboard all the time so why not make that look cool?

Still got it, and the inverter. I've moved on to a natural keyboard as I find them more comfortable, but it's not transparent so it'll be staying unmodded.

I like also:
* Placement on a bit of carpet to suck up the dust
* Panel gaps - is that a twisted chassis? Did you weld the front of an ATX to the back of a micro-ATX case?

Love the shopping list though.

Christofire-i want one of those. I hate to have the lights on and i can never see the keyboard. That would be perfect for me. It took 3 minutes to right this message since i can't see the keyboard.
Thisname: I've done three watercooling installs for other people (read into that what you will ), it's very quiet, and keeps your stuff very cool. However, it's about £200 for a decent kit that'll keep the CPU, motherboard chippery and gfx card cool. Much more expensive than fans, and you'll still end up with two or three fans, albeit large and slow moving fans.

As for maintenance, the pipes can gum up with stuff after a long while, even with anti-alge and distilled water. This is all experience from following the instructions to the letter on the kits. The kits I installed were Asetek kits, and I'd get one if I was doing it myself.

Rappa: Shame you're stateside - I have no use for that kb now, but it wouldn't be worth shipping. Find a neon string kit, a transparent keyboard and do what I did. Take it apart, wind it around the inside, reassemble, ta-dah!
tahts pretty cool keyboard glyphon.
-ideal for gaming and movieediting prgs etc.

-about pc pimping... ..I dont get it... I mean.. ...whats the point...

...neons - oversized wiring - superduper turbo fans etc etc...
...looks rather silly IMO.

I go the other way... my pc is stripped for anything not needed.

O RLY

i said, it is pointless to use antifreezing liquid, because for watercooling you never go near freezing temperatures.

i did not speak about anything else. only about the antifreezing properties of antifreeze water coolant.

in the end, i do not understand what you found wrong about what i said...

note: the case i showed is a case i did for my gf.

my pc is laid out, mobo psu hdd, all apart, on my bookshelf. so there, kristiansen

why, yes, it's a clocked mobile barton, why do you ask...
