No luck here either last night. Takes days to load up a session and everytime I try to play online I get some error to do with Steam API :/. Menu is poor, had to click 5 times to get past one button, it did the little animation and noise just didn't take me anywhere.
Oh, I think it's much worse than all of those. I play GTL and GTR2 if I'm in the mood and enjoy them for what they are. RACE, on the other hand, is just terrible. Avoid.
Pah, cannot really be arsed to download 1.1 GB just to find out it's the same old crap as any other ISI "sim", just with different car models and tracks
Turn down the graphics settings to medium at least. Reduce the resolution aswell. I had the same problem back in November when I got it and that fixed it.
I've played it online since I've got it, and *gets flameproof coat on* I really like it, I've joined a community that has a locked server so we don't get any of the stupid wreckers that you find in the public servers, we always talk on ventrilo, makes it a whole load of fun online! Also never suffered from any of the huge lag crashes you get in LFS.
If you can see through the bugs (and yes, they are there, everyone knows it) it's a great game to play.
I don't understand HOW people can compare it to GTR and GTL though, entirely different way of racing, Touring Cars are FWD (apart from BMW), they are made for short sprint races and bumper to bumper racing. I think comparing it to other ISI games (including rfactor) is just silly. It's certainly the best ISI engine sim i've played.
it's the first decent touring car game since ToCA 2 touring cars back in 1999, it is one of the best games i've played for the amount of fun I have with it, LFS just pips it to top spot though.
I had the graphics on medium and ran it at 1024x768x32 resolution and without aa and af. I couldnt go any lower if I didnt want the game to look really crap. I did play the demo, that didnt work to well either but atleast graphics weren't screwed up. I did find it the same old crap as f1 99-02, GTR and GTR2 ohh and rTractor.... when the graphics work they look quite good but I will happily sacrafice and graphics and play LFS instead, atleast I know that will work on my computer 100% and it dont look too bad either
i dont know why i keep giving these so called sims a chance everytime one decides to show its face, they are always so crap, why oh why do i bother!
I think these free weekends are great invention and if the players are stupid, it's not Steam's fault. Not like LFS demo servers were perfectly wrecker-free? Maybe would help if these trials lasted something like 2 weeks, then players might get used to the game more and play clean... but too long trial wouldn't probably be good for sales.
I don't like few things in Steam, mostly usability things (I'd like to have more control) but comparing Steam to Starforce is just amusing. Similar systems like Steam are probably going to get more popular way to distribute games in the future, I guess you anti-Steamers won't be playing much games then.
Well, I played it for alittle bit. I did catch a bug or two, but nothing that really effected the game. The worst thing for me was that the screen in the incar view was annoyingly gray.
Graphics and sounds aren't as good as the other SimBin games. If your used to playing other SimBin games, this game is kinda a dissapointment, cause your going in with high expectations. But as a fresh start into SimBin, it's actually a pretty good game.
I wasn't a fan of the physics in the demo, but they seem alot better, alot more realistic in the full version.
What annoyed me alot was alot of the cardboard cutouts on the trackside.
But, I'll probably buy it, just because it's another decent racing game I can add to my collection. Plus it's not that badly priced.
