Quick server admin question
Guys, I'm looking for instructions on server admin. I'd hoped it might be a sticky or at least be a section in the LFS Manual - you know the kind of thing; what you can do as a server admin etc....

Thanks - I just want to confirm that this applies to ie. my teams server I connect to as a normal race? At what point to I enter the password?

I thought however that I could change the options (cars, tracks, etc) through the graphical interface like i can in single player?

On the connection screen to the host, enter the admin password for the server in the "Host password" field. When you've connected you'll then have the admin rights necessary for some of the commands. On servers where the public can select tracks (i.e. servers with the S flag set), anyone can select tracks through the graphical interface (as you do in single player) at the welcome screen. However, on tracks where the S flag is not set, changes to tracks can only be made by admins through the command system in the welcome screen. Changes to cars can be made at any time, with admin rights, through the command system, you don't need to be in the welcome screen.
That's great, thanks.

I'm sure the server does not have the S flag set but I *HAVE* seen me sitting in the game waiting for the race to start and it showed the track changing as the admin set it. Is this as you describe above and he was using the commands?

Yes, as the admin enters the command to load the new track configuration ("/track so1r" for South City Classic Rev, for example), all other connected players will see the track name change and there'll be a pause as all of the clients load the new track.
