wet weather
HI,
Been racing the game a lot but it seems boring now as races in real life dont only take part in the dry but in the wet aswell and would be nice if there was wet weather to allow a more fun and realistic race. The wet would be good if u could have it half way through a race or somthing especially in the extremely short races or the extremely long races. the wet would make the drivers learn alot more and show them how to race in the wet not just the dry.
thanks and feel free to post on this subject

Currently there is a lot more that the dev's have to worry about then wet conditions. It has been suggested before if you only used the search button: http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 4&highlight=wet+roads - it will be available in S3 but for S2 there is so much more to worry about; Cars, Physics, Tracks, etc etc.
i think this needs more then wet weather, what about fog, nighttime and posibly ice (or just very cold)?

wet weather could be done now, the actual weather coudlnt be done, but you could simulate the slippery surface of the track by lowering the surface grip.
I would imagine if the devs were going to add wet weather racing they'd want to do it properly, with puddles and spray and aquaplaning and varying conditions and stuff. So it would be a big job.

Which isn't wet weather, just a less grippy tarmac surface

How many servers these days have wind enabled? When I raced online regularly, it was umm... oh, pretty much 0 unless I was on my own on a server and had enabled it. Personally I think it adds some variation, but alas, 99% of people are only looking for a new PB, not a varying driving experience... so going by this, how many servers do you expect to see running a wet environment after the initial "z0mg!!!1111one iz w3t innit!!!!111 8)" novelty wore off?

Not that this has not been suggested many times, but it would be great for league races. First we need varying track conditions due to temperature, rubber build up and stuff like that, though.

This is exactly the reason there should be NO options for weather... Weather is something you have to live with, not something to choose from... The only thing you should be able to set is start time (once a day/night cycle is implemented)...
well i personally love to drive in the wet weather. what would be cool if in the middle of the race, it started raning, would make things very fun

Agreed, but I do have 1 reservation... processing power (but I guess if I was to really get back into things and take a serious approach, I'd sort out a new gfx card to cope).

As much as I would have liked to have run wet races with GTR2 (would have preferred it to look like a wet race too however not the bullshit system it uses ) and would have loved to have done some speeded up "24hour" races with rFactor, I was able to do neither as both were such an FPS hit, my AMD3000+ and FX5900XT just couldn't cope with more than 2 cars on the track at any time.

I guess the only plus here is that it's not likely to happen within the next week for LFS, so by the time (assuming) it does get into LFS, most of us will be running better boxes and will be able to cope more easily.. but I agree, things like wind should be random when entering a server, dust / smoke textures shouldn't be able to be edited (so 100% transparent can't remove the effects) and a forced cockpit, no virtual gauges / mirrors mode / F9 displays etc too... but you have to be careful it seems suggesting more realism as people jump up and down about it as it'll naturally make their lives more complicated and they'll actually have to "learn how to drive" rather than be assisted with unrealistic aids or similar and woe betide anyone who makes it harder to get a PB during an online race... seems realism isn't what people _really_ want, they want _selective realism_ as and when it suits them

As things stand now, I'd like to see wind removed from the config and it be forced. Sometimes, naturally it'll be next to nothing, but others, 30mph+ would be cool.. IIRC, LFS also goes one step further and varies the direction (and strength?) during a session too, which is sweet as!

Ian
