Career mode?....
If there HAS to be a career mode, it like what the rest of LFS is should
be original and realistic. Like having the "career" have NOTHING to do with racing. No, the "career" should be some lamer job. I dunno, animal carcass removal? And depending on how many animals you pick up & drop off determines
how much you get paid. If you make X amount of money, you can buy a car and race on weekends.
And there needs to be an option for "Career change" mode like after picking up enough road kill and only getting paid so much for it, the person should have the ability to change another job like as a food processer, a hair stylist or a maintence man in an apartment building. Or you can opt to put off racing on weekends for a few levels and use that money to go to college, get a "career" that pays more and allowed to race faster cars.
And then in bonus levels you have "family mode" Where you have to balance racing with the needs of a "single player" family.
And when you make it to the top levels where you race full time, there needs to be sponsor aquistion rounds where you go all over a virtual map,
pandering for sponsors. Maybe have to hire pitcrews and look out for unscrupilous members that will switch your fuel mix. or give your set up to the other (A.I.) racers.
And instead of just physical effects modeled like tire wear, there should be
psychological effects as well. Like a "virtual stress" effect. You have to race a demanding circuit while knowing your alcoholic spouse is sleeping with your main sponsor, the Tax office is auditing you, and your kids don't talk to you anymore because they don't think you're really there for them.
(can those effects be modeled decently?)
Now THAT would be a career mode.
