it's the best form of flattery because it shows that people other than you and your team-mates like the design you made. think of it as a compliment. i think the current method most people have is enough.
and there's nothing exhibitionist or egotisticle about not wanting other people to use private skins that you have put hours into making. here's an idea, why don't you restore an old car and let a complete stranger drive it when your not about

Well I have read those six pages Im just saying that my skin was nicked... and how stupid it is that people can steal them so easily.

I've only had one skin stolen, and it was such an old and poorly done skin that i didn't have it on my computer anymore and let the guy keep it.

You can't download other people skins from the LFS World site.

And yes they just take them from that folder or this forum if you uploaded it in the skins section.

I've devised a brilliant method of preventing the skins I create from being stolen and used by other people. And it's extra special because none of those suckers over at Master-Skinners even thought of it!

I design completely and utterly crap skins, that no-one would touch with a barge pole. I'm so good at it, in fact, that people have even emailed me to say how they could barely wait to quit LFS, so they could go delete my skins from their skins_x folder.

I am the copy-protected skin king!

I have only made one skin, it was just a St Georges Cross on thge XRT. I have seen about 5 people using it. I was honoured.

The thing is... when I make a skin I usually don't want it to look like a pile of crap.... but its a good idea!

Oh and about that volvo skin...I saw another person use it and told them to take it off because it was mine and I made it... and then someone butts in and says that I didn't even make it!

I'm not too worried about a few others using my skin but then taking the credit for it or saying that I didnt make it is just wrong.
