Digital "bridge" Cameras
My "inherited" SLR from my Dad seems to be slowly giving up the ghost, and I've been thinking about going for a digital "bridge" camera to replace it.

The cost of a proper DSLR body+lens is just a little too high right now, but I want something with a decent level of optical zoom, that lets me do the focusing as I want to (i.e. no motorised focusing, it's too slow).

I've come across the Fuji s6500fd which seems to fit the bill, for a reasonable cost. There is one flaw that I can see, aside from the lack of image stabilisation, and that's the fact that it can only buffer upto 3 photos before having to do a lengthly (6-7 secs) write to the storage. In my opinion that screws it up in being a semi-decent action camera.

Has anyone got any other suggestions, for around the same sort of price range?
I was looking at it and was going to suggest what my house mate has just bought, but then I finally found a price for that Fuji. Prices have seriously come down since I bought my camera 3 years ago.
