Quote from stevewhite :When people try to explain how or why they feel/think a certain way about politics or religion, you get other people who feel differently about the subject, and try to correct them. Then the argument begins.

I guess that previous arguments with political or religious implications (think about Galileo Galilei) would have never advanced civilisation if politics or religion wouldn't have been discussed... The Roman Church tried to shut Galilei's mouth, and succeeded. But luckily we now know who was right and wrong then.
Quote from SamH :Don't EVEN think about trying to pull that one again. It's inexcusable.

Does that mean I will be banned if I do? I'm scared...
Quote from jayhawk :To the angry atheists: what has God and religion done to you to hold all this hate and frustration?

Check this link. It's a collection of sick things that Americans have said in the name of their faith. And not all quoted persons are extreme right-wing evangelists: some are/were U.S. president. With nuts like these, it's understandable that an atheist living in the USA becomes angry and frustrated.
How stupid can a person be...

I knew there was lots of idiots in the world but woah those are horrible.

I'm speechless.

Quite frankly, they scare the living shit out of me. These people are Senators, Presidents, Generals and Chief Justices for crying out loud. Some quotes may have been taken heavily out of context, I'll give them that, but a lot of that stuff there's no excuse for...

same here but a few are positively hilarious ... you really couldnt make this up if you tried
"I'm an old-fashioned woman. Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women today, we wouldn't have to vote."
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."
"Causes of homosexuality include: 'sex with animals'"
"Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."
Those quotes make me far more scared of America than any terrorist organisation
There you have it. Those quotes are just the kind of abhorrent, nauseating garbage that makes me despair for Americas future. God help you (pun intended:razz if you don't do something about these extremist lunatics.

LOL

"A good butt-whipping and then a prayer is a wonderful remedy."

What's that a remedy for? A hard day in the office? "Hi honey! I'm home! What a day... Traffic was a nightmare. Be a darling and thrash me 'til my cheeks are like two beetroots in a bag..."

No, you don't get banned if you do. You get stared at really hard, and probably everyone mutters things about how immature people are, who repeatedly pull that nonsense.
"I'm an old-fashioned woman. Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women today, we wouldn't have to vote."

Now not only she did have to vote, she had to become a senator too... It must have been really painful for her, considering she's an old-fashioned woman

A true masterpiece. No, I couldn't make that up.

Additional note: I'm a bit worried too by another thing, the huge number of people everywhere who only seem to understand authority, and nothing more than that. It's a worldwide phenomenon, I suppose. If it worsens dark days loom ahead.

Quote :"The Islamic people, the Arabs, were the ones who captured Africans, put them in slavery, and sent them to America as slaves. Why would the people in America want to embrace the religion of slavers?"

that is unbelievable....

some weeks ago one higher german politican had to almost abdicate because he said in a speech about a deceased politican, who had earlier during the NS regime worked as a judge too, that this person fighted against the regime itself (which was not quiet true). Because of one sentence he had alot of trouble.

When i read these quotes I'm quiet scared about the US
Well, you pretty much have to ignore the quotes from people like that Phelps-character, cause realistically he's just a self-important headcase with no power and a very limited following.

Coulter/Limbaugh/Savage et al make ludicrous statements because it pays well.

Edit: Pat Robertson's statements have to be taken with a grain of salt, too. He's a TV preacher and Christian activist, not an elected politician.

It's the fact that there are three with (President of the United States) after them that makes me worried to think quite how close God gets to that little red button to end the world.

The Phelps fellow isn't really much to worry about seeing as he hates the entire world including all other Christians.
Quote from SamH :I love Coulter.. best stand-up comedienne ever!

OT: Coulter is magic. She's completely delusional. No wonder her quotes open this commentary: Pat Tillman, our hero. An interesting but painful reading for those who are curious about political media manipulation.

If anything, the US needs hate crime laws ...

Maybe the UK actually needs to arrest people using them as well.
