The victory goes to the driver and team, but the winner is also an ambassador of your country, so as long as he is a good driver and deserves a victory, I see no problem with following a countryman.
Take Rafa Nadal for example, ¿didn't you want him to win the Roland Garros?
EDIT: Or MotoGP, I like Rossi there, because I've been following him for years, but I wouldn't mind Dani to win if he really deserves it!!
I congrat Hamilton for his victory, and I hope he and the rest of *** that were talking about team orders think better what they say next time, because this race demonstrated they were wrong.
Yes of course, I like Rafa Nadal very very very much. Why? Because his gameplay is AWESOME. Is he Spanish? Oh yes, but it doesn´t matter, I love him because he is an amazing player. If he was Finnish, British, German or Polish I would like him anyway.
I see no problem with following a countryman if you follow him because you love his driving style and his manners, but, only because he is from your country? :thumbsdow
XCNuse I think your point of view is different. I´m not talikng about Country X = Good drivers and CountryY = Bad drivers. My question is about supporting a race driver depending only on his nationality, ignorating other aspects of a driver
A question for people who voted YES: Why do you always think about your country? Can´t you think about your street, avenue, village, city, continent, etc? Why a Brazilian fan doesn´t support an USA race driver because they both are Americans? Why a British fan isn´t obligated to support a French driver only because they both are europeans? If you live in street / village / city / country / continent / The Earth / The Solar System. Why is the country the most important thing?
The country is not the most important thing. At least not for me. But you asked if the nationality MATTERS and IMO it does matter besides several other aspects.
I like Heidfeld and Rosberg. One reason for that is because they are driving under the german flag. But I also like Hamilton, Kubica and Ekström in DTM for example. Because they are very good drivers and almost always impress me. And I liked Montoya very very much because he was (is?) a great driver and also very entertaining.
So I voted yes because the nationality does matter but it is far from being the most important thing.
I agree, but it's always a "plus" if a good sportsman is from your country it can be tennis, football, or whatever the sport. And there are people who support their local 2nd or 3rd division teams, and surely they are not the best or have an awesome play ("Díselo a los del Atlético jajaja")
But there is a difference between supporting him and being a fanboy, there are lots of Alonso fanboys, and I can understand some people just don't like him. He's not a god or something like that stupid "Lobato" says, but he's a good driver, you have to agree with that!!
