What's the Worst Nightmare you ever had??

Quote from Jertje :These days when it happens - maybe once every 2 months or so, I just take on the challenge of trying to break free of it, which sometimes works quite well.

It may perhaps not be so funny experiencing it in person, but I just had to think of the "Wiggle the toe"-scene in Kill Bill vol. 2 .

Unfortunately I can't contribute to the topic. When I have a bad dream they usually are in violation of several laws of physics which makes me realize they can't be real, so I just turn the dream around and think of something nice.

Vain

That's soooo lame
Quote from aoun :mmy worst nightmare was when i was racing and there was noobs all around me moaning in zombie voices, "brains.......... we have no brains" and then they hit me and i woke up screaming!

I saw a tick next to this thread so i thought to see what i posted. I found this.

THIS!

What was that? I must have been drunk in another world! For the record, i have never dreamt that!
I haven't had any nightmares in a long time, I've learnt to control my dreams so if things started to go badly in them i just change them
I win!
The very rare occasion I have a dream, which I remember when I wake up, I'm having a ehm good time in the dream and wake up before the dream ends
What started as a very nice dream, always ends up as a nightmare (I guess that doesn't fit in the general definition of a nightmare... but anyway). Not exactly scary, but infuriatingly annoying

What actually was a nightmare, I had when I was about 5. In the dream me and my mother were somewhere running errands and my little sister was home alone. When we came back we found the driveway full of ambulances and fire engines and our home burnt. It actually came true 5 years later, luckily my sister ran to the neighbors
It's coming up to 6pm.....I'm still in work.....quick stab with the pencil into my arm....ouch, that hurt...confirmed I'm awake.....conclusion....

My life is currently a nightmare.

Oh man, that got to be the worst thing I have heared, I feel with you
It's not really a nightmare but I sometimes get sleep paralysis. To simplify, it's when your head wakes up but your body doesn't.

The first two times it happened I was I woke up lying flat on my back completely unable to move (well I could wiggle a little). This was disconcerting enough, but it was accompanied with a very intense sensation that someone or something was in my bedroom and they had very evil intent and I felt as though there was a great weight pressing down on me. So I was lying there thinking to my self, 'Oh shit...there's something there!', but I had no idea what. I just 'knew' it was something evil and I had to get up and confront it. The trouble was I wasn't able to move. So I lay there flicking my eyes around the room looking for whatever it was. After what seemed like hours I said to myself, 'Ok, Tom. Count to 10 and sit up'. I counted to 10 and used all my might and forced myself to sit up. As soon as I was sitting up in bed I felt absolutely fine and a little bit confused.

It wasn't until it happened a few more times that I wondered what it was and found out about sleep paralysis. It's bloody weird.

It happened to me again this Monday. As I was falling asleep I noticed that slightly too familiar feeling that something was wrong. I was sort of lying on my front and got the feeling of evil presence. I then felt as though something (it strangely enough felt like a large cat or dog) got up onto my bed. I can only describe it as a physical hallucination. I felt the weight shifting around on my bed and it worried the crap out of me. Luckily I snapped out of it pretty quick. The bugger was it happened again a few minutes later as I started dosing off again. That really messed with my nights sleep.

Other times I have hallucinated while it happens. I once saw a 'monster' on the end of my ape. Like a fat hairy ape/human creature with a weird brown head. In this case it wasn't very scary because the monster seemed rather pathetic (it was wheezing heavily). Another time I saw a young chil standing at the end of my bed staring at me in a very demonic fashion. That was quite offputting. So much so that I attempted to kick the child away but could only manage a slight leg movement which luckily was enough to wake me up and snap out of it.

Sometimes sleep paralysis is entertaining but a lot of the time when it happens it is extremely scary. Until you snap out of it. Then suddenly you feel normal again and a little silly for getting so worked up about it.

The odd thing is that it only really started happening over the last few years. Last Monday was the first time it happened in ages so I expect I'm getting over it now! Woop woop!
My worst was when i dreamed i was getting hit by a car and i could even move
Not A single finger.

A day later i got rammed by e peugot307 and it was excatly the same dreams are decieving the guy who said that is so wrong
I holed on to the rood things for dear life so owuld get dropped on the street ansd get some kind of serious head insury

Nightmares becoming truth that is truly scary prospect
blimey, heard a lot about sleep paralysis but not stuff as vivid as that

as for the scariest nightmare I've ever had, I hesitate to call it a dream even as it was only very very short, but so very vivid I won't forget it in a while - basically all it was was this guy, dressed all in black and with a really evil looking face walked into a laboratory or something, a very white building which had a receprionist or someone behind a white desk, pulled out a gun and shot the guy behind the desk dead. Then I woke up, that really really freaked me out
I don't really get many nightmares, I used to when I was a kid, I had the same dream where I was falling off a really high bridge into shark infested waters and woke up just before I hit the water. But the worst ones are where you dream that something awful is happening, but you are stuck, your body won't do anything and you are trying to shout or run but you can't.
Quote from Hockquan :...

Do you think that feeling of an evil presence is simply to do with the fact that in the 'paralysed state' you're unable to defend yourself if there really was something evil in the room?
the feeling of an evil presence accompanying sleep paralysis is common, luckily enough I've never experienced anything like that (despite living in a haunted house, but that's a different thread) think it's to do with the lucid state you are in, a hallucination that there is something out to get you and you're unable to defend yourself
I had a dream about a spider the other night. It wouldn't let go of my hand, no matter how hard I shook it or spun it around on it's thread... I kept talking to me, and taunting me that it wasn't going to let go. I think I eventually flicked it off!

Not a nightmare (I'm not worried about spiders), but I very very VERY rarely remember any dreams at all, so this is 'big news' for me

I'm sure I do dream, I just never wake up during them, so I don't remember them.
Quote from CSU1 :Without a doubt the worst kind of dreams I have are those that I am shouting or fighting and you just cant lift your arms or shout

I have ones like that, except it's of me running, and it's like I lose all muscle strength, can't get up, can't jump, can't keep eyes open, it's wierd
I don't really have nightmares as such, but i do remember being away with the banger racing lads somewhere near the germany/holland border in a hotel for the weekend for the annual prize giving, trophies, speeches and beer!! Anyway, we all got fairly drunk and went back to our rooms. I went to bed and then dreampt that i woke up back at home in the uk and then just dressed and went to the pub but when i got to the pub it turned into my place of work for some reason. Then i was at home and went to bed again, then i woke up back in germany, wandering outta my room into the main hotel corridoor looking for a toilet (even though there was one in my room) I remember it was really hot that evening so i wasnt wearing anything to sleep. I remembered finding a toilet, and then walking back to my room, but the door had closed behind me and my key was in the room, so i went to the front desk and asked if someone could let me into my room again.
Then, i was at a race meeting in the uk, then i woke up for real, in the german hotel with a hangover! It was only a few days later, when my mate calmly turned to be and said, what the f*%l where you doing walking around the hotel in germany totally naked?? Turns out the bit at being at home was a dream, the looking for the toilet bit was when i had actually woke up and the racing bit was when i had gone back to bed again and was another dream. Strange stuff!

I'm the same. I'm aware that I dream but I remember very few beyond the first moments awake, and when I do it's often something of an odd day for me. They fade from memory quickly too for some reason. I can only remember two off the top of my head. One hiding from a witch in my bedroom as a child, and the other getting shot in the face by someone driving past in a car whilst I'm sat on a bench, nice.
i usually forget dreams after a few minutes awake although strangely, i can remember a dream where i had 'sexy times' with a mates girlfriend! I have heard of people who keep a pen and paper by their bed so they can write down what they remember as soon as they wake up so they can try and retrieve the memory at a later date, whether it works i dont know.

I've had loads of dreams like that. I remember a dream where I was being attacked by a really nerdy kid from my school but when i went to fight back my arms were so heavy that I couldn't lift them, as if i had no strength in my arms! Another dream or nightmare that I remember well is for some reason a guy was chasing me with a gun across my primary school field. He shot me in the head and ran off thinking i was dead. After he was gone I got up and walked away .. it felt like i was slowly dying, my vision blurring, my hearing was almost gone and i was taking quick sharp breathes. Just as I could feel myself collapsing and dying, I woke up. No idea why I dreamt that
Worst one ive had, was that i was being gutted like a fish while still alive. Im sure theres others but thats the only one off the top of my head atm will post later if i remeber a worse one.

*EDIT*
Haha i remeberd a worst one.

When i was young like young i had this nightmare that i was captured by some freaky clown and kidnapped me and my family and stuff, and it was a continuation coz i got scared when i slept alone so i went to my parents bed. you know when u were young u did that. Anyway it continued there and when i woke up, i saw that same clown guy leaving my parents room like he walked out the door, like i watched him walk from beside me all the way to the door and out. And i was awake for that it wasnt dreaming i was fully awake.

Yes so thats been my freakiest nightmare.
I remember one dream I had when I was ~8, where I couldn't control my body, i walked through our house for a while and at some point I meet my mum and just out of the sudden violently bite into her arm and couldn't stop till I woke up:tired:

Other than that I have a lot of dreams where I'm just a witness of something, or sometimes even the hero who e.g. saves a girl from drowning....but these are no bad ones:ernaehrun

Especially not when you're getting the reward... huh uh huh *beavis*
that i saw someone i hated and wanted to kick him, but when i kicked i woke up and kicked against the side of my bed :ices_rofl

i had this several times lol

Totally. I know there isn't an evil presence but when you're in that state you aren't thinking straight and you're sure as hell there is something there and it is out to get you and there is little you can do about. It's one of the scariest things I've ever experienced but as soon as you snap out of it all the fear melts away into nothingness.

Doesn't happen to often luckily. I went through it almost every night earlier on this year. Not sure why but it appears to be going now so I'm not too worried about it.
