Hey, just decided on a whim to post this here, it's a race that me and U41K ST8 had yesterday.

Comments/thoughts/whatever....put 'em in the thread. Not my choice of music. But I feel it fits well

Ok, I'll be the first to say what I think about the video.

-1 for music, it could have been better.

-1 for quality.

-1 for default camera views.

So, that would be a 7/10.

Good enough for me.

-2 for racecraft/skill. I mean, come on. Even though you're on a keyboard you could've done much better. It might felt like an intense race back then, but this is really nothing video-worthy.
-2 for having a G25 but driving equally bad as a keyboard player. I couldn't believe my eyes when the credits scrolled by. I first thought you both were on keyboard. :doh:

4/10. Don't take it personally, but to be honest, I think it sucked.

Well done holding off U4IK, DieKolkrabe!! U4IK cheats all the time. Dirty drivin' SOB.

Thanks for the comments. I've been given the green light to edit it, So watch this space. I'll take the comments into account. Any suggestions for music? And I am by no means a damn good racer, That wasn't the final product, that was just a preview to gather criticisms/comments. So, like I said, watch this space.

Just to say, it might not be video worthy to you, but this chap had been spinning out before this race and didn't feel too good about it. So I think this was a good achievement for him. Well done mate.

I am well aware I was driving equally as bad as he was but their was a method to my madness.

Definatley don't take it personally, it was put out there, so all comments are welcome.

sorry dude, i only got half way through and i was bored. it was like watching a replay. try using shift+u a bit too. and if the race was exciting to you, use a more exciting song and shorten the vid to fit only one song instead of playing two songs back to back.

Captured with FRAPS and edited with Sony Vegas 6, not that there was much editing in that video.

Yeah, it wasn't action packed racing but we enjoyed it.

That was just an try out for me, I've tried using shift+U on some shorter clips I've tested. It takes time when doing that and this video was made in a couple of hours, including capture time which was at 1/4 speed. My PC isn't the best so I wanted to get the best quality I could.

About the music, I had already captured the whole race in one so I didn't really have bits to take out and didn't have any good songs that were over 6mins so I went with 2 I liked.

you're using vegas 6, so am i. you can cut your clips by clicking on the clip where you want to cut and press s. i record using fraps @ 1/4 speed too. shift u is not time consuming. it just lets you get the pictures you want.

Nice, I never thought that was possible. Never tried to find out either though, cheers for that.

I'm still finding out how to do everything in shift+U mode, that's probably why it takes me time to get a good shot. One thing I'd like to know, since your here, is it possible to change the field of view without the slider actually on the screen? I was trying to start with a long shot and zoom out as they cars get closer but I couldn't get it. I know you can changed the height and roll, Ctrl+arrow keys.

zoom functions are as follows
zoom out fast is 7 out slow is 6
zoom in fast is 4 and slow is 5
change height is ctrl+ up and don arrows
rotate is ctrl + left or right arrows
higher camers is V

Ok, so from the tips and comments here, thanks all, I started from scratch and made a new vid. Nothing special but this one had some effort put into it.

Btw, this is my first attempt at making an LFS vid so expect better next time, I am.

Comments on the video are welcome and we already know the driving isn't the best so no slaggin'...

Video editing was very nice, if a bit too much fake shaking during the freehand/tv camera views. The player switches at the very end were also rather abrupt and a bit confusing - a small effect to indicate the change would've been good here. It's still the same replay with rather poor racecraft, but the editing hides it much better and if you didn't know the first video you probably wouldn't notice it anymore, with the exception of the race start and second lap crash which still stick out.

-1.5 for racecraft/skill
-1 for minor editing issues I mentioned

Well, if you lack material to make videos of (well.. i dont really think so :tilt, i´ve got a pretty nice (imho) .mpr of a duel between me and my friend.
It´s Xfg/Blgp and really close, but 99% clean

I don´t know if the track is too boring (he was still demo, no choice) or if 2 cars are not enough, or if you only want to edit your own .mprs, or if this request is rather bold, but... feel free to use it, we would be pleased to have a video of it

Yeah the shaking wasn't intentional, I'm just not used to it. I'll get there though.

i told ya bud. more time = better video. when making a vid (i have covered this on msn) make sure your 100% happy with the shot your working on b4 you go to the next shot. also try to remain consistant with your effects. let the tune dictated the shots. massive improovement since vid MKI
