I have never been in a crash myself, but I strongely belive it`s something I don`t want to experience anyway. As you say, standar cars are just pure crap. Hit a car in 50 km\h and it may be the last thing you ever do And it`s true too, small speed acidents kills a lot, due to the crappy crappy safety in standar cars.
And whats make me wonder is all the people that drives without seat belt when they are drving... someone just aren`t glad enough to just ..live ..!

Anywhoo... Considering this thread is still horribly on topic, how many of you guys have been in a car? During a crash. I haven't. Would like to though.

Discuss.

I have, about 7-9 times I think. Once my fault.

Buy lanevo for cheap Driver and passenger did survive, but passenger needed services of hospital.

I have been in few crashes, really nobody don't like to be in such, humans are so fragile in crashes. None has been my fault.
I've been in one car crash, and it involved our car and a tank

We were driving on the motorway passing some army trucks carrying tanks (Leopards to be specific), and suddenly one of the trucks we were passing started to veer right towards the exit. My dad was driving and we both wondered (having been drivers during our military service) why the truck is not following the others.

Then suddenly the car in front of us jumped to the right lane, revealing a car coming straight towards us on the wrong side of the road. My dad had quick reactions and turned right, but came short of correcting the movement and we hit the truck sideways. Sadly for the car, the tank's treads came about 4 cm out from the truck's sides, which meant... Well, I'll post the pictures.

We got even onto the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat for that

The car was relatively unhurt, but the tank was a write off :P

Quote from TiJay :I thought all cars had slightly off centre steering? My steering wheel points slightly right in a straight line.

No, that just means your steering wheel isn't bolted on correctly. All cars should have a dead centred steering wheel.

It's possible that you can have your wheel pointing in completely the wrong direction and still going straight, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. when people change steering wheels sometimes they put them on at the wrong angle.
Or it could be simply the tracking is out. Most places bolt your steering wheel dead centre and then adjust the tracking to suit.
This is an interesting thread, as my dad somehow managed to roll a Vectra (full of shopping ) into a field a couple of years ago

It's also entirely possible to have all 4 wheels in the right direction, but the steering wheel off-centred...

Yea, that would mean your steering wheel aint on straight.

In most cases your wheel will never be DEAD STRAIGHT, as there are thousands of variables IE tyre pressures and camber that can never be accurized.
