In online playing I get this weird equaliser thing in the lower left corner. I dunno what it does, and more importantly I dunno how to get rid of it.

It's a ping thingy. Every bar represents a user. The green bar is you. The higher the bars, the higher the pings.

Ah that really explains why sometimes there are more bars

But I still would like to know how to disable it

ctrl + f, removes the hud and the lag bar.
