Saved look left/right in replays?
Hello all, long time no speak!

Just a quick suggestion here, but, could it be possible to save the drivers Look left and right commands in a replay. An example...

I save a replay of a race, but I want to view it from exactly the drivers eyes. So I don't want to have to look left or right myself, i would like to view it when someone looks that way? Currently I look left or right myself. Or I use external view to see when the driver looks around by his helmet, but I don't get to see the race through their eyes in the cockpit.

I feel this is useful not just for seeing IF a driver looked left or right, but what did he get a glimpse of, and what did he miss when he just looked left quick etc.

I guess by the left and right looking of the helmet / driver model that in the replays the look left and right is already saved? Is there a way to enable it to do the views for you?

Good or Bad idea?
This is a very good thought, and a very good suggestion, as I don't think there is a way to replicate driver eye movements in replays.

Good idea.

Very good idea, +1.
Ya, +1
'+1' is so 90's.

This suggestion has nothing to improve the game, actually, it's a bad idea, because what if you want to look straight to analyze the driver's line? If you wanted to look to the side, you can always press the look left/right buttons.

I don't get it why everyone +1 every suggestion, or do they just mean +1 for their post count?

I don't say +1 because its freaking useless and doesn't mean anything. They say it to represent a "yes" vote.

If you're analyzing their line while they are looking left or right they are most likely racing someone else. Analyze their line when they are on clear track.

If the person is looking left or right then its for a reason, no? Unless they are looking left/right to purposely put you off of analyzing their line, then they can't see where they are going. Of course if you have world records where people are looking left or right then there you go, go faster by looking out the drivers door. =)))
+1

Really like it, would be a good thing.
u know in a replay if the view is in the cockpit u can look right and left on you own (at any given time). So this suggestion is pretty useless.

Did you even read the post?

He want's to see what the driver sees. That means that the camera moves automatic, not he moves whenever he wants to like it is now.

Although I say it should be an option, drivers view or normal replay mode.

Of course it means something. The "+" sign means "positive" and the "1" means "one" (more than zero but less than 2). That's one vote for the positive in regards to the original suggestion. A "-1" posted would mean a negative vote for the suggestion.

And it's a "+1" from me for this suggestion too.
I thought I was the only one who wanted this so I never posted anything. This would be useful to watch the replay to see if people actually look before moving into a different line and causing someone to wreck.

Let me put it this way... If someone causes a crash and you want to see who did it and what happened, lets say that a wrecker looked left when a car was there then just moved over into that car after looking. You might see that as just someone not paying attention with the way it is now.
head movements are already saved in mprs
watch a replay from chase view with force view on
yeah, but he wants the cockpit view to automatically do it at the same pts and for the same length of time that it was done originally when recorded.

+1 why not.
It would have to also be set to the same camera position, same fov, same look setting (smooth/instant). I'd also be amazed if the blink-and-you'd-miss-it glances that you can do with instant look are all recorded, so it wouldn't be that useful anyway. (imo)
There would be a problem with people using trackir. How would you store their movement? And what about people driving in 180° FOV? They would rarely use the look buttons.

It's a good idea especially when it comes to decisions who's fault it was in an accident but it's more complicated than just saving 2 more button presses.

I agree with sinbad. What if the dude's using 3 monitors? Maybe it could be a viewing option...
I see what you mean about the trackIR thing. Does the head movement already get saved in the replay when someone uses it? Is it possible to replicate the same settings the driver was using, say, it auto selects 180 FOV or seat position for you?

How about some indicators on screen? e.g.

If someone looks fully left <<< shows up on screen.
If someone gradually looks left < shows up on the screen.

It's not really a solution but an alternative?

I hope this can be done i'd love to view some race starts from other peoples eyes, because some races are so good they need to be watched from all angles.

I assume track IR acts like an x/y axis pair.

If any axis that could effect head position made the head model move then all that needs to be recorded is changes in head position. This would pick up look left/right and track IR etc.

The replay view is then just kept in sync with driver model.
