That's only because some guy at work got pissed off at another guy at work and when he got home, he thought, "ha ha, you son-of-a...., wait until tomorrow..." while he was in the kitchen.
1. On an oval if you spin there's a good chance ur going to get lapped, and for the racers who make a mistake or gets accidentally taken out it's really irritating.
2. If there's debris on an oval (which because of the close racing there will be debris) it can seriously damage the car. I mean someone's car (sometime last year i dont remember the exact driver) overheated because a window wipe got stick on his grill. Plus some other debris might puncture a hole in a tire. (which happens often). Stock cars are pretty fragile when it comes to facing debris
3. You still dont see as much 3 wide action in road courses and you do on ovals . Yes it's designed that way, so therefore by nature it'll happen a lot more on ovals then on road courses. Just because "it's engineered to happen", doesn't make it any less exciting for me. Going 3 wide in a pack is going 3 wide in a pack
It really helps to know what you are talking about.
IRL == Indycar Racing League. And it didn't split from CART, rather Tony George (owner of Indy) started a rival racing series, the IRL which was formed to race solely on American ovals with mostly American drivers.
And yes CART has transitioned, through many business transactions, into ChampCar.
So the original poster was spot on about his comments concerning which American series represents the typical types of racing.
