The online racing simulator

Quote from Linsen :I don't know how their stats are worked out, but it seems strange that there are 932 winners in 804 events .

Multi-class races?
I knew that.

Here's some more trivial stats about the system courtesy of Sam's SQL tinkerings, since we relaunched two weeks ago we've had 1,880 drivers new to the CTRA system. In total 5,012 different drivers have entered a server and agreed to the rules in the last 2 weeks.

In the history of the CTRA 415 drivers have been naughty enough to get notes on their licence... tsk tsk lads, keep it clean out there ! and 849 people have logged into their personal MyCTRA page.

Now for some direct comparison to that 'other' system again, they advertise over 300,000 completed laps on their stats. Since we introduced laps tracking (which we didnt do on launch) we've clocked over 1.9 million laps completed ! .

So there you have it, some pointsless statistics.

Oh an incidentally, the AVERAGE yellow flag ratio is 28%. Come on guys, see if you can get it under 20%
Still don't know. It an LFS system?
I'm working on getting below 10%, actually, but I guess I won't have a problem achieving that once the stats are reset. Unless I drive fe green too much, that is, where I almost always get a yellow on lap 1 through the chicane, even when I'm perfectly clean through there (which is likely to have to do with the CTRA-layout).

And is it illegal to write r2p in here?

Downloading music and movies is bad...mmmmkay

Quote from SpikeyMarcoD :Still don't know. It an LFS system?

It's for other games like GTR - It's called Race2Play, and they ask you to pay for features like getting competitors skins - they wanted to come into LFS, and they also wanted Becky to write the program for R2P to integrate into LFS for nothing
Ah, that.

Its for other games, so I dont care anyway.
Well I didnt want to lay a gauntlet down to them or anything, i'm sure that behind the hugely inflated sense of self righteous arrogance that R2P's founder, and most popular sim racer in living history, is a very nice chap.

Oops.

Anyway, they are indeed the nearest comparable system that i've found. I think Cone Dodgers would theoretically be larger if they take it as far as being a more fully featured licence system when their new software comes, simply because they have so much historical data (over 20,000 drivers last I heard), but as at the moment the CD software is just a pb tracking system so I dont 'yet' consider it to be a race licencing system.

I hope their new licence system in the works is drool worthy though because I want to play on one and just be a.n.other racer (it's hard for me to race CTRA and not descend into admin mode), and my personal standards keep me from playing r2p (where almost all championships are led by the most popular man in sim racing... ).

EDIT: And i'm not in any way gloating that he wanted me to write that software on the basis that he supported many more users and many more tracks and cars and races than my little system could ever hope to attract, he said I should write it because he was bigger and that my little league was tiny and i'd be doing LFS a service (of course, servicing his bank account too......)

Finally found them after i remembered their announcement on racesimcentral today.

Just because.. I'll point out that the comparison between CTRA and R2P is *mostly* willy-waving for sims, rather than licencing authorities.

When we, at CTRA, chose our sim, we chose *the* sim. We chose LFS

Oh.. and CTRA is free for everyone! No charges, no fees, no farting about.. buy LFS and you get CTRA! (if ya wannit!!)

Okay.. I'll stop being self-righteous again for a bit
But, you can pay Me if you want?
You might be sim-waving Sam I'm just gloating/laughing at the fact that the man who so 'pleasantly' asked me to write software for him 'because his system was so much bigger than STCC' actually turns out to run the Tonker toy equivellent . I'm just trying to figure out whether it's just karma in action or a personal victory.

I still maintain i'd have no problem developing a similar system for another sim, in fact, I believe I eluded to this fact in my recent interview with Gianni/South City Cab Co. It's just that no other sim is currently worth me investing this much time into without a 5 digit sweetener.

Anyway, back on more or less topicness now, I realise I need to make the reporting system clearer in game now because as i've now removed the submit button, it's not clear what to do next. Chris (one of our admins) has prepared a pdf tutorial that I hope he'll post soon, and I will soon turn my attention to this screen and tidy it up a bit.

I think I might also do some kind of replay archive browser too, we show the 25 most recent replays from the reporting screen, but we could allow direct access into the replay archive and increase the functionality of the replay browsing from the reporting system too, as the server holds a lot more than 25 replays (as unlike some other race licence authorities we hold more than 25 races in the 14 days we hold replays for... OOOooOO bitchie ).

Sounds great, Becky.

FWIW, I'm seeing errors in the http://www.raceauthority.com/myctra/editreport.asp page. See the attached screenshot.

I first thought Sam was working on it, but 5 or 6 hours later the errors are still there. In case it matters, it's a report that hasn't been submitted yet.

Cheers Fl!p, I told Sam of the error - and he made a strange fressian cow like sound... I think i'll have to call him Daisy from now on!

Moo!

My goof.. whenever I let Dreamweaver write code for me, it screws up. I fixed the problem by removing the option. It's not needed, since admins perform the same check anyway and it's just a needless duplication of effort

ty for the bug report

OK, Daisy it is, then! And you can call me Flip (or Philippe for fast typists).

Okies, Phillipppee!
Sam, hope you don't mind me asking but when we have to report, where do i find the place to upload and add a report?

From what I've read you still raise a new report from within the game like before, but to submit it you have to go through MyCtra on the site.

thanks, brilliant
Quote from obsolum :This may be a little off topic but since we're talking about the replays and submitting reports, are you guys aware that the download link sent to your email address doesn't work if you click it?

Quote from Becky :Thank you obsolum, i've addressed this bug and it should now be working

I raised a new report today and apparently it's still the same as before This is the link I got in my email:

Just mentioning it I'm guessing this works in Firefox browsers, though.
