unfortunately my server pc is not in my house it is paid for stuff, and i cannot put my special firewall program on there yet as it may cut off my remote access on restart lol, however when i have a client based server running, it is all logged in my superior firewall program. ica n ban people by the mac address forget ips, u can change ya ip but ya cant change ya mac, unless u go buy a new newtork card everytime u get banned nd if so, how sad. And besides the ponce who is cutting the servers got banned clean off mine then came back and shut it down :-p i may look into the windows server ip rules there may be advanced logging within there that u would not find in XP.
I have a headache right now and so cannot be bothered, it is easier to just restart the thing than try fighting the person responsible.
Maybe the developers can look toward Teamspeak for ideas on remote administration interfaces served up on http ports, and even the way they handle their client connecting packets and such.
Over the last 2 years i have seen teamspeak overcome many problems that are not really different in nature than the probs we face here.
