***FREE BONUS POINTS GIVE-AWAY***

Please note that we are giving away FREE POINTS this WEEK, with every new lap record on every combo! Simply turn up, drive a half-decent lap (better than anyone else) and you'll get bonus points! This week only!

We have reset the lap records charts (although we have a historic record available, of course!) as part of the changes that we've made. So now, when you race a fresh combo you stand an above-average chance of getting points for lap records, and also for getting NEAR the present low lap records. GET THEM WHILE YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORK FOR THEM!
The points given for lap time are not added to points given for cleanliness, the highest points are used and then multiplied by your points for position to get the final result.

You can earn no greater points than driving cleanly.

so i have no records now
Woot had acouple of clean races last night. Yeah I know niels doing a clean lape ???? is it possible ??.

Wooh points sytem im a very pleased. I did recieve a lot of points today. Drive clean stay in pace and you home free. Great system. However the pointsytem on SS1 seems to be the same. But i could have it wrong.
The single seaters and the race servers share the same code to calculate points, only the bit that puts them onto the respective licences is a different line, so it should be the same.
Just a question: does a driver who doesn't drive within the 108% margin but causes no yellow flags get points? Or is pace still the first condition that must be met in order to score points (as I think it should be)?
Yeah, they get awarded points for causing fewer yellow flags.
a=Points for position

b=points for 108%
c=points for no or few yellow flags

if c>b then b=c

points=a*b*carmodifyer*raceduration*licencelevelmodifyer
Just so I get this straight: by that calculation a driver who finishes 15th and caused no yellow flags will get no points as a is then 0 causing the result to be 0 as well, no matter what b and/or c are. Correct?
Yes, position has always been a key factor in scoring points. I've found it very frustrating trying to defend the comments who say it is all about lap time when it never was.

Under the new system nothing has really changed, except that those who lack raw pace can score points based on how clean they where instead. All the other factors remain unchanged though.
cue lots of lap record sandbagging
Alright, great.

Well, I'd love to understand how the points were assigned to me recently. A couple of nights ago (definitely before the servers closed last night) I was racing on AS4 in the GT2 class. Dustin was racing there too. He was much quicker than me in his FZR, I didn't even have a setup to use in my XRR. In one race I won the GT2 category, and Dustin finished 2nd. Dustin had much more pace but that race he'd had a couple of big excursions off the track, he was driving quite erratically and beyond the limit, trying to set a new CTRA lap record. His fastest lap was a good 1½ seconds faster than mine. Final result - me (winner) +40 points, Dustin (2nd place) +44 points. Both on a silver licence.

How can he score more points from that race when it was me who drove consistently enough to beat everyone else? Am I better off just using a hotlap set for a single banzai lap than concentrating on racecraft and consistency?
Quote :His fastest lap was a good 1½ seconds faster than mine.

This is a fair difference in pace, positionally speaking you probably where not too far apart on points so with the gap in lap times being quite large that would account for the difference, especially if Dustin was driving close to the lap record.

Since the change however, it's far easier to complete a race without crashing than it is to do lap record pace everytime you go out on circuit.
