I remember him destroying
a cheap old maseratti from the 80's(maybe early 90's) - dropped a garbage contaier on it
porsche 911 from same years - Crashtested into a wall, and then blew it up
Volvo 850 - crashtested into a wall
a LOT of caravans - lots of fun ways
Rolls Royce something rather from the 80's - drowned in a pool
Ugly riced Sierra - THAT WAS FUN
Corvette from early 90's - machinegunned, GREAT FOOTAGE, MUST SEE
Toyota Prius (Shot till exploded by Billy Bob) - GREAT Episode
Perodua Kelisa (Korean Garbage) - death by sledgehammer and explosion
Hyundai Accent - Banger racing + junkyard press
Renault Espace - sawn in half
Lada something - torn in half and exploded
VOLVO 340 junkyard machinery test
Citroen 2CV - same as Maseratti
lots of mid 90's old cars, that nobody cares about (less then 1500 Eur) dont count
and the best!
Jeremy's failure
TOYOTA PICKUP TRUCK...
MUST SEE...Great episode!
so...I dont see any vintage cars here...although it's not a full list
No E-type, or DB5, or even a Morgan...
Any you guys tell me that a 911 and a deux chevaux is not vintage... ok.
edit: Used wiki and found a difference in language. Vintage in non-english countrys means style between 1930-1970. English spelling means more around 1916-1930. Who cares. He sucks anyway.
Not all old cars are classics. The 2CV is a classic. The 911 is, but only because it's one of the few cars that have taken over 30 years of development to make them work.
If a few of them are crushed, it doesn't matter really. Saves people from thinking they are decent cars (which they might be since 2000, but certainly not before. Apart from the brakes, which are awesome!).
Where did you get that 3000bhp from then? I didn't say anything about this S14 having 3000bhp and being faster than that thing in the first post, it was merely an example of a car that uses a twincharged system, because someone mentioned it.
They put the engine in the wrong place, forgot about suspension, forgot about styling (imo), and just spend a few months on the phone to Brembo. Then they spent a whole lot of years sorting the mess out, and trying to make the 911 turn from a pile of crap into something half decent.
And just as they managed it, they completely devalued that brand with the Cayenne (and to a certain extent, the Boxster).
I'd take the 2CV (and weld up the floor/wheelarches, and take it 2CV-boat racing).
Tis the reason a Toyota Hilux pickup truck with a 22R or 22RE will always be the absolute top number 1 best vehicle of all times. I can vouch for the fact that you can throw nearly anything at a Toyota pickup, as Jeremy did, and it will always keep running. I have driven no vehicle that can possibly compare to the indestructibility of an 80's to early 90's J-vin Toyota pickup/Hilux/4Runner. I totalled mine twice, put it back together, never had antifreeze/coolant in it, and I've stated before, only changed the oil maybe once between the 105k and 189k miles I owned my 88 4Runner. Previous to this one, I had an 89 Hilux (pickup) that was the smoothest running vehicle I had ever driven with it's 139,000 miles I had on it. I totaled that one as an insurance claim and recieved almost $2000 over book value, which was $1500 over what I paid for it 2 years earlier. Had I been smart, I would have bought it back from the insurance company and put a new frame under it. I didn't though, I bought the 88 instead.
Missing my Toyotas...... Stuck in a POS Ford at the moment....
Don´t want to insult. But a (mums) Miata driver talks about style? Not talking about that red-silly-daddy-payed-singlecrapper.. erm.. seater. Sounds a bit funny to me. Anyway. I´m sure the 911 isn´t that bad car because of all the racing successes the car still have. Actually the engine is not in the wrong place this really depends on the car layout at all. And don´t forget it´s made out of a VW 1200 so it´s a kind of a 356 evolution. German cars were always the top class.
Mums? I can't see what my mother has to do with a car
Daddies single seater? Shame you don't know the facts, isn't it. Having to resort to the original purchaser of one of our many cars that I happen to spend a lot of my own money on, or attacking a Lotus Elan copy (do you appreciate Lotus Elans? A lot going for them you know. A decent one would beat most, if not all road going 911s) because you like Opels?
I detect jealousy. Poor you. Funnily enough you, and your team, pretty much exclusively drive singlecrappers on the easiest LFS track constantly, so it's probably best not to ridicule them too much. Envy is such a nasty green monster.
German cars top in class? They're all boring and dull. Great engineering, but 'Ze Germans' engineer all soul and character out their cars. All of it.
hes absolutely right ... well almost he forgot to mention that the car has aweful aerodynamics (which neatly opens the window for us to continue our discussion from half a year ago)
After reading many of your posts I know what kind of wannabe you are m8. Anyway.
I agree with you about german cars for normal people. Same goes to cars from every country. But your generalisation is just stupid. Sure there a (very few) high character british cars like DB5 f.e. but there are also Porsches, 300SLs and MANY more great german cars.
Beside from the Jenson Interceptor show me a british car that brought new technologie to road cars. I can´t find nothing.
BTW: I don´t like Opel because of the brand. I like "vintage" cars, mostly from the late 60z. That´s the reason why I own two old Opel.
Although, the same can be said for almost all modern supercars. Sadly they are mostly engineered with the (often true) assumption that they will be bought by morons... They don't like to let you actually drive it without a digital chaperone.
Wasn't the TR3 the first production car in the world to use disc brakes as standard? One of the TR range was.
Besides, I don't like English cars that much. I prefer Italian cars. Passion, soul, speed, revs style. And the electrics aren't really any worse than any other car of their era. And most don't rust, except '77 - '80 cars (by which time Fiat had too much influence anyway).
Edit: Wannabe? There is no 'wannabe' about me. I'm a do-er, not a want-er. Name one thing I want to do that I either haven't done or aren't doing (apart from Kids, which will come in the future)?
I think Uno Turbo and Delta HF don´t count. I was lucky to drive a green Miura S once. But just two small streets around the block. The car belongs to the uncle of my boss´ son. He owned the same model Opel as a young man so we switched the seats for a very small run. Beside this i must say no. The car drives not very well, more like an old lorry but you have this feeling in most cars of the 60s. Beside from that imo the Iso Grifo 7litri is an amazing car. But not really italian. Ferrari I don´t like (beside the 250 Lusso).
If I ever would buy a car for 50000+ I want to have a DB5 or V8.
