if so...what fps do you get full grid + single player...on eveyrthhing on full detail

Thank you

Havn't you got one? Its in your signiture. :beady:

I suspect that rig would run LFS with high enough FPS your monitor couldn't keep up. So you wouldn't need to worry about specifics.

Also, why not save a little money from getting something like a good Dual core instead of a Quad, then get a better Graphics card with more memory? You'll benefit if your going to have a 22" monitor.
I've got a dual-core 6600, 2Mb RAM and an 8800GTS 640Mb in this box, I get around 30fps on a full AI grid at 1680x1050 with loads of AA and AF.

What holds back your frame rates with LFS?

19 AI cars? I don't think it's the graphics!

Online I get much better FPS at race start with 30 cars on the grid - around 60fps I think (it's been ages since I joined a full server) so I'm guessing it's the CPU hit from all those AI.
Nah, you must have a shit load of stuff running in the background ?

I'm building a new PC atm with much lower spec than yours, and i was hoping for alot more FPS than that online yikes, cant afford to upgrade anymore

Nope. I'm even in the habit of turning off my personal firewall and anti-virus before starting LFS. I am running 16xAF and 16xAA (quality) at 1680x1050 - not sure if that has anything to do with it but honestly I'm happy with the performance and I'd rather have the smooth graphics than a handful of extra FPS anyway.

I'm talking about frame rates while sitting on the grid surrounded by a full field of cars. 60FPS at the start is pretty good - probably better than most of the guys around me so I always cut them some slack if I get pinballed a bit in T1. A minute into the race I'm up at 90FPS and it stays there.

Ahhh, yeah that probably explains it.

I suppose it only gets bad when it drops below 20, so as long as i can stay above that with my new PC then it should be ok. At the mo i'm in single figures on a grid of 20 cars and T1 is an absolute nightmare. Just wish more guys had the same attitude as yourself and gave a bit of grace to us chaps driving an LFS photo album
Yeah everything would be better if more people were like me. When I'm prime minister I'll add Kev Studies as part of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship classes. I figure nobody will notice if I add yet another ****ing useless topic to that already over-burdened, useless turd of a class.
Well lets not get carried away, i just thought it was a good attitude to have in LFS....

But King Kev does have a certain ring to it.....and lets face it, you can't really do a worse job than that new invisible PM bloke we seem to have inherited, Gordon (whatisname) Clown or something ?
I run a Quad 6600 with the 320mb 8800 gts, I get around 160-180 fps with a grid of about 8-12 cars I don't think I've raced in anythink bigger since I upgraded. This is just of the top of my head as I was getting 30 fps with my old P4 2.8 with the same sort of cars, also with the old system if I had a full grid of AI cars I would get 1-2 fps, so I'm very happy. Thats with all the eye candy on max with the new setup. Interesting to note how the frames can drop in spots around the track, must be the added details.
Yo, Harjun, you get the G0 stepping for that quad? If so, you could get that shit running well over 3ghz, while keeping temps decent!

why only 2mb of RAM? and the E6750 is a better cpu for better price etc. than the 6600

He meant 2 GB, and the E6750's are newer CPU's - they only came out at the same time a Q6600 G0 did, before that the most popular C2D was the E6300/E6600
