i expect that even though he doesn't need to win, hamilton will qualify on a light fuel load in an attempt to get away from traffic early, and minimize his chances of being taken out in a crash. this will also leave alonso and raikkonen to fight with each other, taking on all the risks.

but all 3 leading drivers are pretty much at the mercy of what the other teams manage to do. if the bmw's or renaults (or even the williams) get anywhere near the front of the grid it could really make things complicated.
Quote from Clownpaint :I just read this on James Allen's wonderful blog.

Am I losing my marbles or did they say in the coverage in China that they would all have fresh engines? Do the Ferrari's have fresh engines too?

US broadcast said fresh engines for all the contenders as well... hmmm
I love how James Allen can accurately predict the precise power loss Alonso's engine will suffer. In reality there shouldn't really be much difference between a fresh engine and a race old engine, assuming they haven't actually gone and built a season ending one race special, which we'd know about because Alonso would be bouncing up and down and Ron really would look a bit silly if Hamilton lost the title in a cloud of smoke

Guys keep your fingers crossed that Lewis Hamilton will win the title.

Let's not.
Quote from tristancliffe :Or the FIA will be sensible and say "okay it was a mistake. You didn't gain an advantage in any way shape or form. We'll leave it and let the racing do the talking".

That won't happen by the way.

That made me chuckle. The FIA seem to want to make it more of a SOAP than a Professional Sport.

Quote from Clownpaint :Looks like Hamilton has it in the bag! Nobody else appears to be racing this weekend...

Hahah, yea.. Just puts it all into perspective really doesn't it?

Quote from ajp71 :I suspect McLaren deliberately kept Hamilton out in China, given that Bernie has Ron Dennis over the whole McFerrari business and would have probably made it clear to him that he wanted the championship to go down to the wire. Maybe this recent 'mistake' over guess what? Tires on Hamilton's car, was made on purpose as well to give Bernie the option of dropping Hamilton down the grid should he have seen it fit to make better TV.

Personally I can only see two outcomes of this race, either Hamilton wins fair and square or Alonso and Hamilton have a coming together and Rakionen takes it. After all everyone knows Alonso would far rather be beaten by Kimi than a rookie in the same car, who he thought at the beginning of the year would be the number 2

I agree with all of that, especially the bottom part. Only two ways Brasil is gonna go : Hamilton wins outright, Or the two McLarens die in some way and Räikkönen gets it(which is what i'm hoping for). Think of it this way, I think Alonso hates Hamilton THAT much, he would rather see Kimi win the championship than Lewis. So I think when he realises the race isn't going his way, with about 10 laps to go, he is gonna slow right down, and do Lewis in, or maybe a classic LFS WWW 'WRONG WAY WRECK'

In fairness to JA, I would assume he's asked around in the paddock what sort of defecit you'd expect from a second-race engine. It's not necessarily about the wear on the engine, it's about not being able to stress it so much since the components have to last longer.

That said, I agree with you about the 'one-race-special' engine...the smart thing for McLaren to do is to use Hamilton's engine just the same as they would if they were expecting to use the engine for a second race.
Quote from StewartFisher :In fairness to JA, I would assume he's asked around in the paddock what sort of defecit you'd expect from a second-race engine.

It still leaves the question of who made that statement in the first place, I hope it wasn't Lewis Hamilton's engine builder

Quote :It's not necessarily about the wear on the engine, it's about not being able to stress it so much since the components have to last longer.

The engines are designed to do two races though so one would assume they intend to run them the same at each race. What do the FIA actually define an engine as, is it just the block that has to do two races?
someone really should tell him he doesn't have to wear swimming goggles all the time
You're kidding me that entire page is full with Hamilton pictures and informations? LOL! no wonder you guys hate him...
I am probably the one and only person here that wants Hamilton to win. I'd like Kimi to win the WDC too of course, but Hamilton has done a good job so far... it should show in this last race.

Alonso better not win it...

About the only thing that would makes F1 obviously staged like you are saying... is if it looked like this:

Quote from Tweaker :I am probably the one and only person here that wants Hamilton to win. I'd like Kimi to win the WDC too of course, but Hamilton has done a good job so far... it should show in this last race.

same here
Quote from Tweaker :I am probably the one and only person here that wants Hamilton to win. I'd like Kimi to win the WDC too of course, but Hamilton has done a good job so far... it should show in this last race.

There's no doubt in my mind that Hamilton deserves to win it, the possible staging would only play into Alonso's favour by ensuring good TV in the last round. I think now a title race is guaranteed and lots of people will be tuning in they will be allowed to race fairly.

It's not that I don't like Hamilton, well I find his personality isn't great, but really it's that I don't feel he's anywhere near good enough to be compared with the all time greats. No one can deny that although he has done a great job to be where he is he did have it all given to him by McLaren in a way no other driver has, and also remember it's a pretty weak field this year.
Quote from Tweaker :I am probably the one and only person here that wants Hamilton to win.

Same here, I want hamilton to win,he is very good, being able to keep up with the top dogs in F1(kimi,masa.alonso) in his first year, if this isn't good, I don't know what is.

Like I have said in a previous reply to this thread, Keep your fingers crossed that HAMILTON WILL WIN THE TITLE.

Sam.
I think I would rather see Kimi win it.

Alonso complains too much, Hamilton is too fake-nice, whereas Kimi drinks a lot and swears on TV. No contest!
Hamilton FTW! and to all you who dont want him to win esp the british on here, wheres your national pride ffs

suppose the biggest reason i think he should win is simply because nobody has driven like a champion this year nobody imo deserves the title, for a rookie to come into the season and whoop their arse's from the start of the season makes the sport kinda look like a joke, theres a grid full of top drivers out there and every race is just the same 4 boring drivers arguing like kids, i want to see webber winning with barrichello 2nd and sato 3rd lol
Quote from andybarsblade :Hamilton FTW! and to all you who dont want him to win esp the british on here, wheres your national pride ffs

Don't got none. I was last in the queue when they were handing out national pride.

I wonder if the FIA Fairness Adjudicator will also be present in the McLaren motorhome at mealtimes to ensure that Fernando gets the same sized portions as Lewis. Apparently at some races Lewis got a few extra chips and more custard on his dessert.
why would alonso care about custard i heard he only likes spotted dick?
You know what I hope...I hope that Hamilton wins and does a huge burnout on the last lap and blows up his car doing it. That would be a middle finger to the up tight FIA idiots trying to stop people doing doughnuts, let them scrutineer the pieces of the engine being spat out of the cloud of burning rubber.
