I always thought German cars were limited to 155 because on the Autobahn (although in theory it has no speed limit) speeds above 155 were frowned upon? (mph btw)

as for the "one long straight" idea how about a high speed oval, with perfectly banked corners at either end?

It was, I belive, never more than a gentlemans agreement between certain German manufacturers.

As for speeds above 155 being frowned upon, god knows, but unlimited truely means unlimited, last time I was there is was amazing to sit at 160mph legally!!!!.

Fun thing about that though, those sorts of speeds actually become a little boring when it's legal........

They "recommend" that you drive at 80 MPH afaik.

They're slowly taking away more de-restricted roads as they're being seen as too dangerous as they're now Race Tracks rather than Roads in some peoples minds.

Only to people who haven't ever driven on them..........because they are NOTHING like race tracks, infact some of the safest driving I have ever seen has been in Germany, certainly beats the standard of driving in this country into a cocked hat.

What i meant was that people go there with the aim of driving fast, rather than driving fast on the way.

...oh i can't explain it!
Only normally applies to the idiotic English people (and yes, I was one of them)
Quote from BrandonAGr :Some of your posts remind me of what people must of thought in the 1400s, why would you want to explore over the ocean and find more land? What could you possibly do that you couldn't do here? There is plenty of land around here for people, It would only be a waste to have more. ie people saying what we have now is perfect and there could never be a reason to want anything else. Wanting to do something just for the hell of it is sometimes a good enough reason.

beautifully put.

I think some people are just affraid of the devs implenting "useless" stuff before hardcore-realism stuff. I'd also be kind of disappointed if they added different rims, pop-up lights and other eye-candy before the hilarious airshows caused by minor crashes get fixed. but I rely on the devs' commen sense... and maybe there are these moments, when they just can't code anything "serious" and so they make good use of the time modeling my desired "reasonable priced (unadjustable) car" or a salt flat.

I understand. You mean the Autobahn was introduced so people could travel faster legally to get to their destinations quicker, but increasingly people travel to the Autobahn as their destination specifically to drive at high speeds. And yes it is probably the English that do it most!
