What do you need, ie a new monitor? Where do you want to buy from?
I'll no doubt get slagged for this by compter boffins, but after a fair ammount of searching I ended up buying a Dell XPS Laptop. With regard to Dell customer service....well I did take my laptop offshore and dropped it ouch! completely destroying the hard drive....This is no joke when I say within 2 hours of me landing back on the 'beach' after my trip, Dell had my hardrive replaced without question. Obviously I didn't tell them that I'd dropped it . With an XPS system you get 3 years warranty included and your own 'special' helpline so you don't have to wait in a queue. I was/am really most impressed.

The desktop XPS systems they've got now look rather good I must say.

Also Alienware, but I think they're a tad expensive.

Good luck on your search mate.....you lucky sod
u get a high end pc under 1000 € already...
and even for 500 € u get a very decent rig.
but...without screen.
if that is needed as well...its gonna be a bit more expensive
A whole rig would be great.
Buy this and this.

You do go a bit over 2k but hey...
If you don't know much about the insides of a PC, get a Dell. Their warranty covers sending someone out to fix it if anything goes wrong, for free.

If you want to tinker with it, Dells can hold you back a bit, but that's about the only drawback.
Do Dell have good gaming Pc's

It depends, the XPS's are... Ok, but the standard ones are pretty rubbish.

I'm not good with pre-builts simply because i just get annoyed at "MASSIVE 512 MB 6200 TurboCache" statements.

And how much are the XPS's ?

cheers
In the time it took you to write that messeage, you could have done a google search and found it for yourself. Some people just too lazy ...
Also I could of checked for gaming PC's but I liek to ask peoples opinions so take your fat ignarant ass out of here.

thanks
Whoa there - calm down... the guy did have a point.

Anyway, however much XPSs are, you can build the same computer for half the price. However, you don't sound like a person who would be willing to build one yourself. In that case, the Dells really are a good, cheap choice. The only thing really to do is go to the Dell site and "customize" one the way you want and see what the price is. It's not that hard.

If you tell us what you'll be using it for though, we can give you recommendations as to what options to choose when you customize it (like what speed processor you need that will get the job done but not cost a fortune) so just tell us what you'll be using it for and we'll be able to give you more advice

You was asking for a fact, not an opinion :dopey: Asking for an opinion is one thing, but that's just being lazy ... all i'm saying

lmao wotta piece o' crap...look how the dvd is jst shoved in there yuck LOL from me
Alright, well. The one thing you wanna do when you go to their site and look at the desktops, is not to go for the XPS gaming desktops. Those start out really expensive. If I were you, I'd look at the regular XPS desktops, and configure one of those. The gaming version is only for HARDCORE, SERIOUS gamers who don't mind spending a few grand to get a top-of-the-line system. The regular XPS will suit you just fine (and personally, I think it looks better.)
Don't buy a Dell. Do some research and determine exactly which parts you need. Find out the best brands and models for each part and buy them all from an online store. Ship them to your house, then take them all to a computer shop nearby and have them put it together for you and install the OS, drivers, etc. It'll cost you ~$100, but you'll get a much more powerful PC for the same price as Dell's proprietary bullshit.

I fully agree, that would be a good idea (I'm too lazy) but would you not get limited system warranty if something went wrong? Have to perhaps pay someone to diagnose the fault if something went wrong, which, from what I see, can be a real pain for non technically minded folks. (As for my mother..., no offence but 65 yr old ladies shouldn't be allowd near either a PC or a car.

Edit: LOL I am not comparing you with my mother SuLLy.
Good idea and yes you do savea lot of mony and probaly get a better machine

but no warranty ?

and is it really worth the hassle ?

Everything has at least a 1 year warranty, and most components have a 3 year warranty.

I wouldn't go back to buying a pre-built, but i'm a big geek.
The only thing I hate with computer shops is that they tend to steal all the little extras that come with the things you buy (extra cables, the SLi bridge, DVi - VGA adapters... stuff like that.) So I'd take inventory of everything first.
Go to your local PC shop, I mean the little man down the street that lives and breaths computers, not PC world . Tell him what you want and get him to give you an estimate. It is also an easy way to get the exact machine you want and he will give a better Warranty if he's specced and built the PC, if he's any good anyway.
