3d mapping & texturing (Unwrap UVW)
Right, I try to learn new skill again, I make a model (very simple one as I can't make complex models) then I would like to use that unwrap thingy so that texturing would become easier.

Problem is that how on earth I make proper template?

I know a bit from method 'render to texture' but that seem only produce crashes from some odd reason.

So I take screenshot and try to paint textures, but I find it rarher impossible to make really good.

Here is then example how model could look (sorry this one is from that tractor title, but same principles should work for models that are not in game too)

Current thing I'm doing is very humoristic car like thing, but I believe I can use this skill to many other things if I could just find simple way for this one step.
JTbo-

You could try having a look at this UV unwrapping tutorial. It's part of a larger Zbrush series of lessons but this part simply deals with doing UVs in Blender. Blender's free so that might help as well..

http://www.houseoftutorials.co ... sonly/lesson5_ZbrushC.wmv

If that link doesn't work (for some reason it doesn't for me) then try going from here and scroll down to lesson 5, then right click and 'save target as' (only works in Internet Explorer I think?).

You might also need to install the codec at the top of the page..

Hope this helps.

I take a look of it, I think that unwrap mapping is dead easy, but creating texture / template for it is quite a PITA, with my graphical abilites that is at least very hard to paint something
Maybe just paint it red

Quote from Electrik Kar :Maybe just paint it red

No no, I like flames, green with purple twist should work fine

Actually I could do even different coloured circles and make mapping with that texture so that it still looks single coloured, but I really could need to make textures for template kind of use, only problem with this mapping thing left

Ah, pizza ready, now to eat pizza + watch that video tutorial

It is easiest with render to texture option, it just did not like my material settings, so I took model to new scene and rendered to texture there.

See how pretty little car is now
