modifying momo race
Thinking about pulling apart my momo race, maybe bieng able to re-gear the sensor and bumpstops to give me more degrees.

Any precedent?

Am I stupid?
Stupid? No. Foolish? Quite possibly.

But if you think you are up to the challenge I wish you the best of luck, and please post photos of however far you get. 360 degrees with a Momo would certainly be very nice.
..wont work.. already tried it lol
lol XCnurse, how far did you get, and what stoped you?

I havent even looked insided yet, but I was guessing that.
1) changing the mesh for the new size gears would be tricky.
2) removing old bumpstops/putting in new ones, if they are not related to gear ratio.
3) WTF is motor gonaa think now that wheel can turn that much further, or is that under a gear ratio that can be alterd also.

I'm kidna done with my wheel, want something better, so im gona go ahead and do this next week when finals are over.
i took the whole thing apart, after about 2 hours i finally figured out how to get the metal reinforcement that keeps it from going over its limited amount of degrees, put it back together, rebooted.. and it just did what it normally did
..now unless you could somehow hack into the momo and set it to however many degrees, all it notices is the default (290? however many degrees it rotates)
so i turned computer off, and put it back together

so the only way to do it is if you somehow found out how to reprogram the hardcoded ..code.. inside the wheel itself
is it a similar sensor to the pedals?

my pedals wernt reading WOT, so i pulled them apart, and cut away at the sensor mount with an xacto knife, some layers of tape, and got the sensor to sit at an angle like \ when it was previously |
Simple analolgy, but if its the same sensor, but under a gear ratio, maybe new gears could be rigged, i was thinking something from r/c, which i use to spend alot of time(and money) in.

So with the metal stops out, it would rotate over and over?
Quote from DinoGuan :So with the metal stops out, it would rotate over and over?

It might rotate over over, if you disconnect the Pot. The Pot only has a certain amount of turning, so this will be a restricting factor also. DFP does 2.5 turns, as its Sensor Steering, not Pot Steering.

I understand what you are trying to acheive, but if you really want to spend money as you say, I would spend it in the direction of a DFP
The momo racing uses an optical sensor too, not a pot. But as XCNuse said getting it to work properly by just removing the stopper would most likely require you to modify the wheel's firmware, which isn't going to be very easy. Re-gearing it would propably cause you to lose alot of accuracy, so that might not be a very good idea either.

I took a few photos of my wheel when I opened it up some time ago, I'll attach them here in case someone wants to see how that thing is built... You can see the metal stopper at the second pic.
