The idea is to use the score as a recommendation - ie LFS needs a rating of 2 (thats made up btw), so you know that your PC can or can't play it.
Of course the fact that my Quad will score a 5.9 at stock (2.13 GHz), and theres a 3.2 GHz E6750 up there only getting 5.7 means that for a single threaded app it's totally ****ed, but meh.
At the end of the day if you want a proper benchmark, you've got SuperPi / 3DMark. This is just a bit of fun :P
EDIT - WTF. Whoevers got 5.9 on their HDD's, i wanna know models and manufacturers, configurations etc. I just hope they aren't marking me down for "only" having 320 GB of storage (hey, since i got a girlfriend i don't need a TB of Porn thanks)
