Shopping-Trolley Races
I've been thinking about tweaking and restricting the XFG in such way as to make it lose the "G" in the name , i.e. reduce the power to about 75 hp, increase the weight slightly, make the suspension more "comfortable" and slightly understeering... only to get your mother's reasonably priced and boring hatchback... and RACE it.

Now the question is: Am I the only one who thinks races like that'd be fun and if not - is there a decent mod that would allow joiners to use only this single shopping-trolley-setup?
yes, good idea
You kinda nicked the idea I hadn't publicised

I was thinking similarly, I tried out a UF1 with a full 50% intake restriction and it's rather fun - but painfully slow at 24 horsepower. With those tech specs, it actually resembles a Trabant in terms of weight and power. Actually, I was thinking of posting the UF-Trabant in leagues and events.

/me goes to do that.

Good idea!

If I recall correctly, Bob has a 'Road Going' set up pack, for the road cars. I think that with a slightly changed final drive ratio, and an insim application to force the driver to use restrictions, this could work out really nicely
Of course there is!
intake restriction till you get 75hp
Add ballast as desired
For setup restrictions you unfortunately have to trust otheres, I do not see how to limit that or detect them at the moment.
There are insim apps able to check ballast and restriction values, if you look around - CTRA, UF-babyR fallout cup for sure and maybe more...

What would the advantage be compared with UF1 only races?
I'm not racing you on AS-nat with this car

Edit: am I slow or are you all lurking around?

There's always about fifty people on here at any one time, so if it's an interesting idea someone should say something.
Servers need the option to fix (or at least limit the values used for) certain elements of the setup, such as the suspension in the case of this 'XF'. Otherwise everyone would immediately stiffen the suspension defeating the point slightly.

I know, I know. Already did that and raced the AI. Even that was fun (for me).

Restricted XF is slower. AND the "untweaked" UF1 still feels sportier than the XF... I'll call it XFL for "luxe" now, because it'll have aircondition, electric windows, 7 speakers and cupholders...

... some people will say the L stands for "lame".

Exactly. If I raced against some buddies on a lan-party I wouldn't need a mod. But sitting alone in front of your PC everyone's kind of tempted, right?
Ahhh, not this kind of shopping trolley then. Got all me hopes up there for a second or two
