Every time I open LFS World, the "racers and hosts" window pops up automatically. This has been happening to me for a few months now, using IE7, and it's annoying. I tried logging out and loggign back in and it still happens.

PS: Please don't tell me to use Firefox as I can't stand it.

I have the same problem, sometimes. Even crashs my IE7 every now and then

The login screen says it works best in Firefox.
Try deleting cookies and make sure your Java is up-to-date.

and to just add to that : it stores opened windows in a cookie when you close lfsworld. So if you have closed the "racers and hosts" window and then closed lfsworld and then later you load lfsworld again and "racers and hosts" pops up, that means that the windows-cookie was not updated. In other words, check your cookie settings. Or remove lfsworld.net cookies to start with a clean slate.

OK here's what I did.

I cleared the cookies, I had to log in to the forum and lfsworld, the "home" window poped up in lfsworld (i guess that's normal), I closed the home window, I closed lfsworld (with no open windows, and without logging out), i opened it again, and the "racers and hosts" window poped up again lol!

Maybe a cookie is not being updated somewhere, but I don't think it's on my end as everything else acts normal. For example if I leave only the hotlaps window open when I close lfsworld, and I open it again, sure enough the hotlaps window pops up again. But the racers and hosts window also pops up.

hmmmmm ok how do you open lfsworld? Do you have a shortcut for it on your desktop? I seem to recall a similar issue Scawen had and the cause of that appeared to be that his shortcut had some hidden url stored that was used. Creating a new shortcut solved the problem.

But .. i dunno if that's how you open lfsworld, so if you don't .. i'm not sure atm why this happens.

Wow you're right, the problem was with my shortcut. I don't understand why though, the URL was just www.lfsworld.net, nothing special about it. Oh well, I guess the problem's been fixed now. Thanks!

yeah if you would've looked at the shortcut with a hex editor, you would have seen multiple urls in there. One of them would have been something like www.lfsworld.net/?win=hosts , but that url would not be visible to you if you'd just edit the shortcuts properties, yet it would be used when you click the shortcut.

I'm clueless to why that is and how that can happen with a shortcut in the first place. But yeah, delete and recreate fixes it
