LOL Sorry about that, didn't notice the printer was out of ink, it's old and didn't warn me... knowing my brother it's been out 6 months and the warning light burned out...
I have to admit I'm all in favour of more separation between the licence levels. It works both ways IMO, if high license level racers have the right to expect good clean races with a fair chance to actually score points then so do low licence level racers. Currently this just isn't possible, (or at least is very hard), because the Race 1 in particular server is almost completely dominated by silver/gold/platinum racers.
To be honest, I wouldn't quite run CTRA as it stands with restrictions on cars being decided by licence. ie only being alllowed to drive a FOX once you get a national licence. I would run it more like this:
All cars can be driven of anyone with any license, just the races are segregated by license level. ie instead of having purely RACE 1, 2, 3 etc have XFG/XRG 1, 2, 3; GTR 1, 2 ,3 etc and instead of having SS 1, 2, 3 etc have FBM 1, 2, 3 and FOX 1, 2, 3 etc where 1, 2 & 3 equate to the license levels required to join that server, (no racing on lower license servers allowed).
In my opinion that would be the ideal scenario, but I accept that it would requrie a lot more servers, (and therefore cost), and admins.
If nothing else is done there should definitely be restrictions on the licence levels that can race on the RACE 1 and SS 1 servers to the bottom two license levels for each class. This will help with both the oversubscription of these two servers that is common at the moment and also give a fairer chance to new CTRA license holders to progress. It also works in the favour of the higher license holders who want to race the XFG/XRG and FBM as it will allow them to have higher quality and cleaner races in them. Maybe create RACE 1 Entry and SS 1 Entry servers for the two lowest licences levels only, (ie copper/bronze and clubman/national B), and RACE 1 and SS 1 will be exclusively for the higher licence holders only.
One more tiny suggestion (No need to make a new thread for every idea pops into my head...): I just hate when racers pits and then leaves the pits while the race is on. They surely can't win it any more, because they start from lap 1. It is really annoying on BnJ, because usually these fellows just messes around. And especially on "Figuratively" layout, because pits are where the 2nd jump is, and that would mean that there is a great chance they will hit someone, even they don't mean to ruin the race.
I would love if higher licenses weren't allowed on Race 1...I mean, you really have no chance of getting better if ~60% of drivers are consistently beating you in every race. They should either be stopped from Race 1 (they have their own servers, if they don't like the combos then I'm sure it can be arranged to change them), or else have forced intake restrictions while on entry level servers...
This is what stops me from getting into CTRA properly, as I really have no chance of finishing in the top 10 since they are all highly experienced racers...Just my opinion on the subject anyways
I don't see how I can beat Platinum racers just yet...to beat them I'd expect to be at their level...I shouldn't have to be able to beat the best racers because I want to place in the top 10...isn't that what entry level is for?
What a stupid comment. It's akin to saying that you're not good enough to move up from karting to race in F3000 because you can't beat an F1 driver. IF the server only allowed racers from one license level above it would be a valid statement as obviously if you can't drive at the level of license holders one license above you then you're not good enough to hold that license. But the fact of the matter is that in Race 1, (and to a lesser extent SS 1), you're being forced to compete with people that are two or more license levels above you, (and if the CTRA system is really working therefore two or three leagues faster than you), in order to gain the next license up.
It's like me saying you can't race in a 100 meters sprint at a club level because you can't beat Carl Lewis or other world class 100m sprinters. Exactly how much chance would you have of competing at that level and being selected for the club event?? None. Would it be fair? of course not.
Thing is CTRA was all about enabling higher quality content, rather than taking content away. There just are not enough players around to run a Silver+ XFG server or some such other combination. The CTRA could open a hundred servers, but it still has the same number of players, and from experience opening unneeded servers tends to drive people away because the population for the niche's gets too thin.
At most having a good combination of servers that appeals to 'tonights players' probably makes the difference of about 10 online players to the CTRA. So even if the CTRA gets their server loadout utterly wrong, its not going to make that much difference as there is no direct competitor to it.
I do think it would work out to open a new XFG/XRG server for higher licenced drivers (maybe in S2 mode so that all tracks can be driven?). I certainly would be on there a lot and I think there are many people who think like me.
I also don't think it would harm the other servers too much. Race 1 will be crowded anyway, maybe Race 2 and Race 3 will have one or two drivers less.
I am a little bit in-experienced to say anything about this matter, but I think it would be "two flies with one hit": It is possible that new-comers can earn points on Race 1 (And thus have a chance to drive on other servers in the future) and other racing servers would be more populated.
This thread is now about me and my stupid questions.
What is the policy of "shift+s"? Should you use it if your car gets flipped in the middle of the track? And what is the policy of "helping someone by re-flipping his car"? And what is the policy of "blocking the whole track section by doing so, thus causing an accident(s) to other racer(s)"?
I don't say that this have happened and I don't say I have raised a new report ( ). Just wan't to know before I press submit... Oh, wait. Now I said it...
I think the overlaying consideration is responsibility. If you flip your car in a location where you present a risk to other drivers, you should definitely pit as soon as possible. You certainly shouldn't wait for someone to flip you back the right way, and the CTRA admins won't thank you if you try to help someone else who has flipped, most especially if you put other racers at risk by doing so. We haven't had this situation occur very often, fortunately, but doing anything other than clearing the track quickly is irresponsible.
You also (as has happened MORE often) cannot re-cross the finish line to go and push another car over the finish line because they have run out of fuel. This presents a danger on the track to other cars trying to finish, and it will unfairly affect the results - someone who didn't fuel for the finish shouldn't finish at all.
