First thing ive read here that makes sense. Apparently im a looser who's incapable of making friends in the real world.

It must be a cold sad place.

My post wasn't directed at you, or anybody else.

Maybe - as Sam contends - joining a team is normal, for people who really love sim-racing. There are teams who I really enjoy the company of, but I would feel way too nerdy (and gay - [noobs]) to actually sign up.
Kinda agreed there, many do fall under that banner and consider applying or joining a like-minded group of people together is nerdy (or gay - [noobs]).

A lot of people get a lot out of being together in these gay teams, and for some its more than just a team in a racing simulator, it can extend, and often does into the realm of real life.

Dont you think we are all a little on the nerdy side regardless? Like posting here in a thread about teams at 4:23 on a Wednesday morning
Frankly I wasn't even aware it was Wednesday. I was aware of the time, but wasn't paying it too much attention. I expect my girlfriend will wake up soon and patronise me about it, and I will be less willing to give a **** about sounding apologetic about it than I usually am.

I don't know... In my little world it's fine to enjoy the casual acquaintance of random people on the internet, but it's rare I bump into people who I'd actually want to spend reality time with. There are a few here, to this forum's credit.

I suppose I'd find a team a bit of a difficult proposition, because it's difficult to know how unbearable some of the members will prove to be before joining. There's also the difficult issue of declaring to your nearest and dearest "No, sorry, I've got a team practice" or "No, sorry, I've got a league race" - I can't imagine what that would do to my own psyche, let alone theirs.

I did join a league once, but I found declaring that time in any given week to be my own was impossibly difficult, either due to work or personal commitments. I made it work for three weeks but it wasn't long enough. That's one (practical) reason why I haven't joined a team.
Kev - Try explaining it to the boss that just hired you that you need the odd saturday every month off to play a car videogame?

Speaking from experience, are we?

I remember it well Kev.

I remember that you were keen for the league and even came on line with us ex-ZWR's doing some practice

It paid off, I think that you won the opening 2 races or something like that, then unfortunately you tended to appear 'just before the races' and your performance dropped and then after a few issues with work dropped out. It was sad that you dropped out - but I'm not sure that if you had been in a team it would have been any different... sure, the team could have supported you and helped you worked on setups etc (if of course you needed that) but ultimately at the end of the day the main factor was the driver and their available time.

I don't think that the end result would have changed (ultimately you would have pulled out of the league anyhow) becasue your desicion was due to factors outside of LFS that would have affected you whether you were in a team or not

Speaking of which......do ya kev

Cheers

Dru.
The way I see it, joining the right team might help me to get into longer races that I find far more entertaining than usual 10lap sprints on public servers. Leagues are not really suitable for me yet as I'm just not that fast on every track yet and due to other commitments I may not be able to race on a regular schedule. I've also been involved in online gaming to realise that finding a group that you really enjoy playing with, is not an easy thing to do.

As it was mentioned earlier in this thread, joining a team that you have no connection with is usually a bad idea.

We have team members who only use LFS every few months but others that on on every day. Our youngest driver is 16 and the oldest is 57 (you are only as old as the women you feel........).

Sry for OT, but if you mean Mysho, he is 17 now.

Only Aliens age that fast...................
