The online racing simulator
GTR-2, DiRT + settings to "feel" more like LFS?
This is probably blasphemous... BUTT (I love BUTT's)...

DISCLAIMER: I just built a NEW PC & wanted to try my old games.
I wanted to see the improved visual quality settings and faster FPS.
However - since I'm now racing LFS - I find the handling in my old games sux!

My new PC:

Annnnnyway - I installed GTR 2 (to try the Power & Glory mod)
- this mod adds some really funky old cars and more tracks.
- while searching for that mod - I found 26 MORE "add-on" tracks!

The visual quality & quantity of the cars & tracks is AWESOME!
I really got sucked in & I love Laguna Seca!

The problem is - they drive like crap! Even in full sim mode.
I have NOT found settings that are even close to LFS.
I got it driving SO BAD I had to delete my profile and start over!

*Has anyone else tried this - and got even CLOSE to the LFS feel?

Forget about Dirt ever feeling anything like something resembling a vehicle.

I guess RealFeel works on GTR2 like it does with rFactor?

It will certainly improve things, but unless whatever your driving has a decent tire model your outta luck.

I spent the last two days trying to get rFactor :saythatShh, don't tell anyone ) to feel at least something like LFS/nKpro but its just not going to happen.

Niels' Corvette and the Caterhams can feel good, but as soon as you switch back to LFS or nKPro you realise how poor the ISI based sims are, whatever you do to them.
Hey, thanks for your input... I wish it was different though!
I love the quantity, quality & variety of the car models & tracks in GTR 2!

BTW - I DID search before I posted this &
then another guy also posted about GTR - TODAY:

Have to admit I do sometimes start RACE just to run the Caterhams around Estoril, but each time I'm disappointed with the physics.

Scawen - give us Estoril!
Yeah Dirt may look nice but the handling is pure and simple arcade. The only rally game that I found to be "real" is Richard Burns Rally.

I played GT5 prologue for a bit and for a console game it's not bad but the PC sims always shine through. If you like the P&G mod for GTR2 then GT Legends is a must, although the cars do tend to feel detached from the track somewhat.

But when all is said and done I haven't played any racing sim (and I've played most) that come close to LFS; the tyre physics are simply amazing.
LFS is the only game I've played where the wheel feels attached to the car. (actually thats a lie, NASCAR 2003 felt pretty realsitic too, not as good as LFS though)
Thanks for the replies...

I just get "tired of LFS" sometimes & want something different.
That's why I installed GTR-2 + it looks great on my new PC.

The multitude of cars & world famous tracks is refreshing.
SIMBIN games can "share" tracks so there's lots to download!
- I just love Laguna Seca... I don't know why?

==============================================
Anyway - I found a guide for FFB wheel settings.
==============================================

GTR-2 & Race 07 just felt "dead" and "slippery" to me.

Using the guide - I changed several FFB settings.

I also made one edit to the front end weight - and WOW!
- the front end actually feels "planted" now.
- now I can tell if it's about to let loose.
- not as good as LFS - BUT MUCH BETTER!

I'm really enjoying the eye candy & the familiar tracks!

The rF Caterham mod is much much better.
