Built it last night, I've put XP on, as I can't get a hold of Vista until next weekend...It truly is amazing! XP Pro boots in less than 20 seconds, from pressing the button to being fully loaded. I get 40 FPS at the back of 20 AI FBMs at south city chicane. Best thing I ever bought
Sweet. It will be abit slower booting vista but it is better on new systems.
It shouldn't have too much trouble booting in Vista, my dual-core lappy can boot HP in around 40-50 seconds. Quad core should murder that

Booting = All about HDD's

Laptops usually have very slow HDD's so it should be a lot quicker.
Hmm, the HDD in this is fairly crap, I got the cheapest SATA I could find, as it's only going to be used for the OS. I have a seperate 500GB drive that I use for everything else...

By the way, what's the easiest way of using programs that I installed on my last computer on this one, if I installed them onto the secondary drive? If I plug it into the new computer, the programs won't be installed, but they will be on the hard drive. I don't have the installation discs for some of the programs any more

Try copying the folder the app is in - sometimes works, sometimes doesn't (need registry entries).
Yes, registry entries, system files, all that kind of crap won't be on the new machine. But I suppose I could manually add the missing registry keys, and copy over all of the system files from the old machine? (Obviously not going to overwrite the ones in the new machine, but the extra ones could be added)

I'll try it next weekend, I'm only on a temporary OS...
