I hope your being sarcastic....
Becuase that doesnt render the camera useless, its only the lens, he can most likely buy a new one and even so he doesnt need to, the chip hasnt damaged anything vital.
The plastic bit that is damaged is just a fascia thing, it just unscrews and comes off. The camera takes good pictures without it anyway as i tested it out, i have no idea what any of the buttons, menus or twisty turny controls are all for though as i have no idea whatsoever about cameras. There is also something called a CIR Polarizing lens with it as well, whatever the hell that means, that has a tiny chip in it. Anyone know if this whole kit is worth much?? I was thinking of sticking it on ebay but as it has no charger or booklets with it, it could look dodgy, although it is all above board.
Seriously, I even provided a link for you. I surely will give you $50 for it. Heck, I'll give you $100 right now, let's deal!
My link I provided in my other posts points to Adorama Camera, one of the 2 most popular camera/photography retailers in the US. Can't tell what lens is on it, but the camera alone without lense is $969.95.
That "just a fascia thing" is called a lens hood. You unscrew it, turn it around, screw it back on and it hoods the lens from light flare from the sun, for example.
Don't sell the camera, join in the Camera Showoff thread here on the forum. Download the manual on Canon's website, and buy a battery and charger for it.
Set the dial on top to "Auto", take a few pics if the battery is charged, and send them to me in PM. Put the dial to Av and shoot a few pics as well. I'll give you $500 for it all if it works.
Nah, not really. Shipping would be expensive I imagine. If I could walk to his house and pick it up, I'd give him $500 for a $1300 camera and lens (depending on lens, that is with the cheap lens).
