Ryder Cup - USA V European.
So the Ryder cup comes around again, this time it's over the pond (or in the backyard depending upon location) and it should be a corker. So is anyone going to be watching it and what’s you're views on the weekend ahead?

Personally, I see the Americans getting this one. Missing Tiger Woods is a blessing in disguise for them, no longer do they feel forced to pair the top 2 together, and for once I think there is a genuine team bond within the team. Also some of the players picked have been very high on the stats regarding GIR and Fairways hit, and with Valhalla set up for the longer hitter this will play towards their hands.

In comparison the Europeans are going with a couple of niggling issues hanging over them. The captain’s selection of Poulter over Darren Clarke (and our Monty) has caused some suggestion that Poulter has a direct line to Faldo......and that Faldo wanted to keep it with his boys. Fair do's after all he is the captain, but to not pick the form player in Clarke, and pick a player who has failed in the last 4 tournament to place within the top 25......it's risky.

Regardless of the outcome, the Ryder Cup will be compulsive viewing for anyone interested in Golf, and I will be spending the weekend in the company of badly dressed people at my local club, drinking a large amount of Magners cider and maybe if the mood takes me, a smoke from a Jimenez style cigar.

p.s. Kids smoking is bad, please do not copy Jimenez puffing action, but do copy his swing if you play gof.
i will also be watching while working at the course . cmon Europe .

poulter over clarke was very risky and stupid really , clarke is waaay better atm .

Excellent, I like a bit o' the gowf, and usually make a few quid out it too

I agree Europe has had too much of a run recently, this time it's going stateside .
Should be good, but twat Faldo has lessened the goodness

Can't wait tbh. A bit dissapointed still for Clarke, I think he showed good form going into the picks, but Faldo went against his own words instead by picking poulter and casey.
Sky link to press conference

OK, I think I may want to slap him. Theres an attempt of humor, but it's so middle class toffish, he comes across as such a d**k......

...why did that" famous person who you want to punch" thread go before I posted Nick Faldo.
hmm

For tomorrow mornings foursomes, he has left out westwood and garcia?

I feel if Europe dont do well tomorrow, Faldo will get crucified by the media
Not a huge golf fan but i've got to admit it was fantastic entertainment last night. That course looks amazing, it's really gonna test the men from the boys if it gets down to the wire on Sunday.

And where the hell did the yanks dig up JB Holmes. I've never seen anything like it, how he manages to putt ok is beyond me, surely at least one side of the ball must be completely flat after he's hit his drive. Sounds really different to the rest when he tees off, kinda like a mini tornado and a sonic boom.

Good stuff, looking forward to the next couple of days.
FALDO I BLAME YOU...:irked:

Gotta say though America deserved the win, took the lead early on and kept it. The standard of golf was great though, really enjoyed it and it was great for the actual competition for the Americans to get back to winning ways.

Poulter justified his pick, he was our best player. But we had no leader of the course, there was no Monty/Clarke to act as a senior member and just galvanize our boys, were the Americans had Mickleson who grew into the Ryder cup player he should be without the shadow of Tiger hanging over.

Roll on 2010 in Wales, I'll be looking to get down there, with or without tickets, and I can only hope Monty is there.
