i am not a big fan of jokerlaps in reallife, too. especially at the estering there is a lot of overtaking. by building a jokerlap, the overtaking is mostly done by tactical driving (taking the jokerlap in the right lap). A little bit like pitstops. there is less real overtaking with the jokerlaps.

on the other hand, there are some race tracks which definately need a jokerlap, because there are that few overtaking possibilities.

Jokerlap in first corner is also not a good idea.

yes probably why i hate the joker so much, as it detracts from the passing that is possible. However lfs rallycross tracks have plenty of places for passing like lydden does.
