Quote from boosterfire :Don't forget Mont-Tremblant, the most awesomest track ever!

Trois-Rivieres would probably be too narrow, though.

I think Gilles-Villeneuve and Mont-Tremblant are probably the best choices in Canada, and I don't say that only because they're in my province! I just like the site in Montreal, it's unique

They've repaved Gilles-Villeneuve recently, like a month ago or something. Basically what happens is that the winter kills it every year (although it's not as bad as a proper road as i t doesn't get salt and continual snow plowing), so to be safe it would need to be repaved every year in April or something. Besides, all that bad asphalt was just an excuse Bernie could use to get the GP out. The real problem was that he didn't get as much money as he wanted.

If you love Mont Tremblant, you wouldn't want F1 there. The track is not up to F1 standard, and bringing it up would destroy all of its character. I'd hate to see that happen to such a wonderful circuit. Plus, of course, the people in the area are already trying to get it shut down because of the "noise."

Same goes for Mosport (minus the noise part, afaik).

3 Rivers wasn't good enough for Champ Car, doubt it'll be good enough for F1. Plus, it's not a particularly brilliant circuit anyways.
but still. the promoter wants the big 8 on the championship.

GP at montreal - no ferrari = 1 spectator
America has lots of awesome road tracks. Tho I'm sure Bernie can think of some reason to ditch them.

A sample:
Laguna Seca
Long Beach [Yes please!]
Montreal
Trois-Rivieres
Mid-Ohio
Road Atlanta
Watkins Glen
Sebring

Sure, some of them are too tight/short, but a modern F1 race at Long Beach would be awesome. So would 26 F1 cars coming down the back straight at Road Atlanta.
Even if the track was long, wide and safe engouh, most of those don't have facilities suitable for a GP. Then again a series without Bernie might be different but I'm sure they would want to keep up the "circus" almost at same level. And most of them are without pit structures. Otherwise awesome tracks.
i reckon that sebring is an awesome track... but u might see those RB's suspensions spontaneously transform into tarpits
Sebring is not up to F1 standard, road needs a complete overhaul, Watkins glen is close but would ned a fair bit of upgrading, Laguna is perfect apart from the corkscrew but changing that would be a epic sin so i doubt they can race there, road america is pretty much perfect but i don't know about the facilities. montreal only needed resurfacing, imo infineon Raceway would be the best spot in america for a F1 GP. For Canada Gillel was good enough as well.
mind you, i went to the canadian gp last year... and i was amazed by the fact that those cars ripped off the tarmac. it just shows the sheer power of those things... and it also made some great but dangerous racing...

They could build an alternative route and still let every car class capable of it drive through the corkscrew.

this changes pretty much what i said about Laguna.

Went though the Corkscrew like its nothing, imo F1 can definetely race there.

Probably need to smoothen it up though, the surface is quite rough(this was a few years ago though).
Yeah Sears would be nice, the full infield course sweeps and dives through the hills, t'is a great track.

I do hope the new series includes some of the classic and perhaps more minor tracks that actually have some soul in them.

Perhaps the F1 split will result in the deaths of many of the new Tilkedromes that have been built since 99, Bernie is the only reason they have a place on the calendar, as with most of the new Tilkedrome events, the grandstands are usually rather empty.
F1 back to Montreal from 2010 on with a 7 year deal being prepared. But Ecclestone said it so we never know. Would be great, finally get to go see and hear F1 cars !!!

It's on the news here and on the canadian sports channel websites usually as headline :P.
Yes!

Aaargh!
deggis, they're just trying to stay professional and not release to much before it happens, but it will happen.

And apperently he did change his offer by something like 5 million per event...

"However Mayor Gerald Tremblay told French language radio RDS that negotiations are still ongoing, and that Ecclestone has not modified his previous unacceptable offer"?
The thing I'm curious about mostly regarding the Formula One Calender is; aren't they meant to be reducing the costs of F1 to the early 90s spending. If that's true then why are they increasing the price of the tracks.

Article from Jamesallenonf1.com
Quote :I posted recently on CVC’s business plan for F1, which envisages the sanctioning fees for races rising by almost 10% year on year, from $374.9 million in 2009 to $445 million in 2012

I currently see no reason why they are charging so much to host a Grand Prix when the rest of the sport is trying to reduce the costs of spending. It really staggers me that they're allowed to do this, but I suppose that's Max & Bernie for you.
Reducing costs, in Max and Bernie newspeak essentially means grabbing more money for themselves. God please do get rid of these cnuts who are driven by personal greed rather than a passion for racing, they have no place in motor sport.
Bernie is a jay ee dubble-u what do you expect.

Falling back to antisemitic comments, thank you for reminding everyone why we don't like you...

It was a joke.

So what if someone is greedy with money, hardly see that as a major insult anyway.
great news today, seems like were gonna have our GP back next year!
yay ! if any of you here are going, then im going too
I went in 2008.

It was fantastic.

If the Canadian Grand Prix returns to Montreal in 2010, I will probably go.
