Is there such a thing like it?

I can find HD output external HDD's (for playing movie files on your TV), but they are only USB connection, which means I'd have to unplug, take to PC, copy files, replug into TV.

I would like a similar thing, external HDD, that can play HD content through a HD TV, but is network attached, anyone know of anything that would do it?

Plug the computer into the TV?

Why not build a dirt cheap HTPC or something? You can get one for next to nothing if you go with integrated graphics (AMD 780G for instance which has HDMI) and low-end everything. It'll give you a lot more customisability than a locked down box will.

Just a thought.
