F3 KOREA SUPER PRIX 2001: COCHET WINS IN CHANGWON
One week after the Macau Grand Prix the world´s elite of Formula 3 drivers took part in the South Korean Super Prix held at the 3.014 kilometre long street circuit of Changwon, being about one hour by plane apart from the country´s capital of Seoul. The track is completely surrounded by safety barriers, so the slightest mistake ends with a shunt.
Jonathan Cochet of France was the absolutely best driver under these conditions. Already in qualifying the Signature Competition driver had done an excellent job, when he had scored the pole position with his Dallara Renault F399.
The Frenchman lead both the 27 laps heats from start to finish, making no mistakes to dominate Briton Andy Priaulx in his Dallara Honda F301 coming home 2nd place. The third man on the podium this time was Frenchman Benoit Treluyer, who had been 2nd in Macau behind new Jordan Grand Prix driver Sato.
