I thought mature ones were the people that can discuss any subject matter (war, terrorism, racism, sex, etc) in a manner than offends nobody, while still getting the message across. You have advertised a forum that you're involved in some way on a forum for a totaly different game. It's inevitable that you're going to get some negative feedback, and instead of laying down the "don't be a smartass" routine, you should perhaps take it constructively and possibly re-consider your forums purpose and re-think your rules
You can't have complete freedom of speech online, because something will eventually offend somebody and then you get hate spam and it all goes to hell.
But I bet you're dying for lerts to sign up, right?
But where does speaking one's mind end and being abusive and flaming start?
People will move the goalposts to their advantage, is someone disagrees with them they will instantly scream blue murder about being 'flamed'.
You will have a very hard time finding 'mature' people on the internets, the fact that everyone is hiding behind a profile on a forum means they are much more likely to be mean and nasty than in real life, often its the most timid people in real life who are the most abusive on the internet. [/OT]
What I think might happen is that things will go well at first, but then somebody will cause some trouble and somebody else will whinge about everyone picking on them, and then moderators will have to step in and lock threads and certain subjects will become no-go areas, and so the whole idea of freedom of speech will go down the pan.
Infact, freedom of speech doesn't exist anywhere on Earth, and for a good reason too, because given the freedom of saying anything they like, people will spurt out any ridiculous abuse at others for the crime of being different in some way or another, so your forum is no more 'free' then this one.
And you can't have a go at us for critiscising your idea, we are simply speaking our minds, freedom of speech yes?
