This is one of my pet peeves. My internet will lose connection for a split second, then I time out in the game. It's especially annoying on CLC when I'm trying for a distance bonus, then fines me for timing out.
Is there any way that if I lose connection for that fraction of a second that afterward the game recognizes that the connection is usable again? Can the game search for connections automatically and get to it in time before I do time out?
This is in Improvement Suggestions because if this isn't implemented, it should be.
There are alot of users that don't experience this problem. You may think you have only timed out for a second, but perhaps it was your upload stream that was at fault. This means you could see all other cars moving right up until just before you lost conenction making you think it "only took a split second to time out" when you had lost your upload ability for some time withuot your knowledge.
If you ask me, LFS is quite generous in regards to timeouts. I've seen people time out for up to 30 seconds and then they appear back all of a sudden. But most of the time after about 10 seconds it's curtains for someone laggin out. LFS can't hold on to you if you're timing out, other players are trying to join track, the relpay is buffering waiting for your next move etc etc, it can't sustain a connection when your timing out for long periods of time. It does last longer than a split second. I can pull my lan plug for about 6 seconds, reconnect it and still maintain a connection in most circumstances.
It's quite a complicated issue, and still not many other people have timeout issues. 99% of the time when people complain they are timing out all the time, it's the users ISP, PC problem, bad phone line or wireless issues. Are you on wireless?
Make sure if you have a shared internet connection at home, that no-one else is uploading/downloading while you play LFS, this will have significant impact on your on-line experience. You either have to put limmiters on their PC's or shout alot at your family to get off the internet!

Thoroughly your gaming experience on other servers. Perhaps it's all/most LFS servers for you causing a problem, then the problem is at your end, most LFS gamers aren't timeing out a lot.

If it's ONLY on "CLC" then maybe the mod we have there is causing issues for you personally, if it's ONLY the CLC server please visit our forums (in my sig) and we can look at your issue.
