so its safe to say reason being people use the xrt and people use the fz5 is because of there insurance with the car going sideways. ( how the car feels sideways to them?)

I love both of them . but they have their own drawbacks .... the xrt is perfect for D0R1F70 but the FZ aswell is good !

but you wont see me in any of these 2 because:

XRT= I used to love it when it was still Demo content... but now that i have S2 i never drive it ecept in cruise because i know it already and i bought the licence in search of a new love experience....

FZ5= its a new car for me .... and i love it too , i found that love experience that i was talking about but the tire problems broke my relationship with that car

thats why at the moment im drifting the RB4 it has the advantages of both of these cars without any of the drawbacks ... and its more impressive doin a near 90 degrees drift with the RB4 than doin a 45 degrees drift with the other two cars.

its your choice ....
i prefer the LX6 for drifting FZ5 and XRT are just boring cars and are alot easyer to drift then RL the LX6 is alot closer to real car drifting but the power to weight dosent help much with road normals on its a handfull.

the problem with the XRT is if it had just 50 more HP it would be the best drift car in the game.
lol the l6 are to easy for drifting u dont even need a drift set and plus its no a challenge to drift for 1 it as alot of steer lock so oversteer is neer impossible and its small so changing from left to right is a breeze

You don't need a drift set to drift the XRT or FZ5 either. I find the lx6 is the most exciting for drifting because it looks and feels the best when it is done correctly.

The thing I found to be very true with drifting in general is the harder it is to control a car sideways the less that people will choose a car that is more likely to spin. Given the choice would you use a Nissan 240SX (Silvia) on coil overs and bald rear tires, or would you take a late 80's Porsche 911 on the same tire setup and suspension? Of course the 911 is a faster car by all respects but when looked at from the perspective of control, most would choose the FR over the RR platform for the simple fact it's alot more stable in the 50/50 blanced FR rather than a 40/60 RR.

I see more FR platforms drifting than any other for the simple fact it is more stable to the masses than an all wheel drive or rear engine rear drive.

The LX6 is god when it comes to drifting though. No control what so ever unless you are skilled with a light rear end car.

Having driven AND drifted with a 91 Miata, 87 MR2, 82 Supra, etc., I have to say that the FR platform with a 50/50 balance is the best choice for getting it sideways. The further the driver and weight gets out back the less control an average driver has.

Hands down, it's the ease of use that makes the XRT the car of choice of drifters. The FZ5 drivers are very respectable for choosing a platform that is harder to handle, but, has more reward. Even more reward to drift with the LX6 as it is even harder to handle than the FZ when it comes to drifting/hotlapping.

My 2 pennies, nothing more. Kinda lost my point somewhere there, but oh well, I think it's somewhere in there, take my words how you will.

ps. my username gives me zero qualification on the track as a drifter, it's just real life experience/observation talking here.
Quote from nisskid :FZ5 is like American drift, bigger power, bigger smoke, faster speeds, but clumsy agility, and sloppy transitions.

XRT is like Japanese drift, less power, less smoke, but easier to throw around, sharp transitions, and generally more precise.

people forget that drift is not powersliding, a strong drifting technique will allow u to drift a car with less than 100hp, watch a FZ5 drifter try and drift a XRG. drift is about weight transference and balance, not just putting ur foot down and power-oversteering. an XRT has superior balance and agility, therefore its a superior car for drift. and by drift i mean proper drift, not the americanised shit.

Yes, i completely agree there.

Most ppl use XRT because they are:

1. Lighter, better weight distribution, hence better balanced, like S14, s15 in real life, so when u doing switch backs, hairpins and donuts/polka, u wont lose it as easily as Fz5.

2. Once u have a good XRT drift set, u can do all the drift maneouvers with ease and u wont lose the angle and smoothness, while still create as much smoke as FZ5.

3. The looks maybe too, many of us have Silvia or FC or Skyline skins for XRT, the iconic looks for drift machines. U cant do that with a FZ5 which looks like a Ferrari.

Fz5 on the other hand:

1. Powerful and torquy, easy to do power overs, aka. power slides, BUT, drifting is not just power slides, because that's just the EXIT part, there's also the ENTRY part too. A drift is not a good one, if u grip upon entry and only power over upon exit....

2. Very heavy on the rear end, that will cause a lot of over steer from the start without trying. For u, it is good, only when tyres r fresh. But since it's rear end heavy, rear tyres will be gone in no time and soon u will spin out.

3. Being rear end heavy also means lack of balanced weight, that means when doing a switch back, u cant swing as aggressively, otherwise u will easily risk a spin out.

4. Longer wheel base, good for fast sweepers, combined with higher power, it is a really good machine at WE rev. BUT, again, it is a hindrance when it comes to tighter corners, especially linked corners, eg. FE green rev.

5. FZ5 Sounds mad tho. I tuned my sound and it sounds like a MEAN V8! thats about it all. hehe.

If u wanna drift in a XRT as well as FZ5, i suggest tune ur XRT set, put in more over steer, but dont sacrifice too much for stability.
oversteer the fz5 has just as much understeer lol that why to me is well balanced but honestly bewteen u n me i cant remeber the last time i spun out with the fz5 ( not saying that i'm ultra great, just saying i found my centre for drfting)but i find due to its heaviness u can carry the slide further rather than the the xrt its too twitchy in my opinion and seeing as 3.6 F 6 which produces a good set more than the xrt's 2.0 Tc ( turbo charge not traction control) inline 4 i would say that the time between pedal to the floor n response is faster .
