How about Israel? I can't work out for the life of me what freak of geographical nature brings a country with Africa on it's border into Europe. Why not invite Syria and the Lebanon in too?
Norway: I just want to say - Amazing! His looks helped a lot (Girls around Europe voting like mad) But the song was also good. I mean nice and simple, yet catchy. Good stuff, I am happy
Azerbaijan: Well, I have to say i was dissapointed. I really did think they will give a good run for 1st. But Europe thought otherwise. Still, good perfomance.
Iceland: All i am going to say is - What the hell.... Really.....
UK: She did OK I guess.....
Finland, Greece, Denmark: Wow.... Really amazed here. All countries produced good songs, and I really did think that its going to be a big battle for the win. But again, I was wrong.
Lithuania: What happened here? Sasha did a great job, certainly better than Estonia..... Quite sad, but I guess its only that because i am myself from LT.. Send back the crazy "LT United" guys with their "We are the winners, of Eurovision" song. Everyone thought they were crazy but they produced a good battle for 1st in the first half of voting
So yeah. Good stuff from Norway. Real Fairytale....
Edit: I also learned that Germany probably has the ugliest girls.... I mean, What on earth was that for Germany? God, girls living down my street look better..... Its not an 60s show....
Edit 2: Also the UK commentator was hilarious "I can kinda see myslef drunk listening to this song"
They actually had a proper women, not starved orange sticks with balloons taped to their chest. I think the song actually let the UK down, you can't fault Jades voice, which was clearly the best in the show. But it's a song contest not a singing contest, so I think Norway deserved it but not by such a big margin.
I think Graham did a good job, certainly better than I expected. If we didn't have a cynical commentator it would totally ruin Eurovision. I wonder if the other countries have a similar attitude, perhaps someone could let me know if Eurovision is actually taken more seriously in Europe.
Can't say anything about this year but in the past years Germany did have a commentator who would throw some "funny" lines here and there. Actually quite a lot of them considering the channel it is broadcasted on.
I have the same problem every year... They talk over everything! This year was especially bad. He was making fun of the set-pieces but his piss-taking wasn't funny because we couldn't hear what he was actually taking the piss out of, because he was talking over it. Other than that, I enjoyed Graham
It was taken seriously until maybe the early 2000's. Now most people take it as a joke. The TV commentator takes it seriously and is quite boring but I mute the TV and listen to the radio commentary. They make seriously politically incorrect jokes. Infact by reading this forum, I'd say half the British population would faint if they heard it.
Some of the best lines were...
About Lithuania: "Listening to this is like being raped, you have to try to relax and suffer through it."
Israel: "I can't look at Jewish women anymore after Dana International. I always wonder, what if..."
Greece: "This guy is totally homo. I bet he visited Filip Kirkorov before the show."
Aserbaijan: "That's the guy who took his four women to sell in Moscow. Doesn't he know that Eurovision is a wrong place for it. He should have taken four boys."
Albania: "Are all the men in Albania dressed in blue condoms. The chick is alright. She can go to Germany to be a prostitute."
Romania: "They're cute. I'll take them in my lap after the show. But men don't be fooled. Those girls are pretty when they're young but they'll get fat and grow a mustache very soon"
Finland: "Those girls are too pretty to be Finnish. They're probably Russian hookers."
The guys got progressively more drunk during the show so by the time of the voting one of them only talked about the appearance of the voters "This chick is cute. Come in my lap. Take the top off!" and how f**ked up this competition is.
