Quote from gezmoor :The upload is what it is. It's down to the technical limitations of the Cable network. You are never going to get high upload speeds on a cable network. Just like with ADSL, the download/upload speeds will always be heavily asymetric. Just something you're going to have to accept basically.

0.5 mbit certainly isn't a technical limitation. 10 mbit upload is offered over here (with 120 mbit down), and the platform (eurodocsis 3) supports up to 108 mbit. That cable company probably never upgraded it's hardware...

Quote from Tomba(FIN) :I think we pay about 45euros a month

oh my...I got mine for 18€/month including triple play services for free
My ip must've changed somehow, because i live at the south of holland, and my ip says it's at eindhoven, somewhere in the middle of the netherlands. Can i change it back to my original location, and if so.. how?
Anyway, here's the result. I'm supposed to have 20Mb, it isn't really right.

Rubbish upload speed...
My schools is pretty decent considering there is 200-300 computers running on it.

lol my dads computer sucks, eh. gotta test the other comp too
Quote from gezmoor :See you took up the 50meg service from VM.. how you finding it ?

Loving it,

I recently moved house (i was in enfield. im now in hornchurch)

In enfield i had the 20mb service But the enfield network is very old so i often ended up getting anything between 1mb - 15mb and only during office hours would i get the full 20 down (upload was always solid at 756kb)

Here the network is only 15 or so years old. So far i have had no problems and have always been able to get the full speed at any time of the day.

and the best part is i have upgraded the TV service, got a phone line and upgraded the B/B and its only costing me an extra 12 quid a month (granted thats £97 but still...)

the longer it takes them to roll out 50mb to the rest of the country the better (as until it goes mainstream there is NO throttling policies in place)

I think the bit i am loving the most right now though is that i have been playing COD4 with some of my old mates in america. i am able to download the 28 - 35mb maps and be in the game playing before their computers have even loaded the map. So its a preety good connection even for overseas servers.

Well Chuffed

Franky - If you still work for DSGi you can get half price Virgin packages - Just look on COOL (or CLICK if your a rubbish Curry's worker).
I saw that a few weeks back Jak. But they are only doing it for those who managed to become part of it a year a go. (as far as i can find) but i will check cool again on monday and have a looksie.
Tested twice, just to confirm

It's exactly what I'm paying for (except upload, should be 0.56Mbits, starts at 0.60Mbits but in the end of the upload it goes to 0.37).

I pay BRL R$199 for my connection alone (GBP £60.96, USD $90.31, EUR $67.17, JPY $9,035.19 ).
16 Mbit up / 1 down and old copper cable .
That's all you get then here

~35 € / ~32 £ / ~47 $
including flatrate for 2nd DSL line to call voip to conventional telephone network, mobile card for free calls into conventional telephone network, free domain, ... and some more stuff

£26-ish a month for this I believe.

i'm 30 mb shy of what i'm paying for
Quote from STF :From all over the world.. Last one is local.

You can afford kick ass internet but not an S2 licence? Banana is sad. :sadbanana

Also, S14... if you look at his connection.. not too "kickass" as the result is essentially a LAN connection.
Dammit, I so didn't see that. :hide:
Server dependent, anywhere from 3 to 20+ mbps, although most servers capped at 10mb/sec. Actual max with my cable modem is 25mbps. Not that great a test, but perhaps a good way to infect systems?

25mbps corresponds to about 3 MBps (mega bytes instead of mega-bits) during downloads and only a few sites will download that fast.
and P2P

^ It`s not a lan connection, the server is located in the other part of the city.. we have peering.
And it`s not that "kickass" like it used to be. That was 100/100 mbps capped dl/up local (local = romania), and "outside".. i was restricted to 4mbytes/s.
I think i`ll phone in and start arguing.. that`s not what i pay for, and certainly doesn`t justify the gigabit infrastructure deployed.

About the pics i posted, look at the distance too..
I`ll post pics next week, after the "renegociation".
Damn ISP`s, are throttling us so they can download pr0n faster.

..and cheer up that banana will ya?
Its even worse today, faster d/l, but twice as bad ping.
Worst ping in the universe!!!

i could pedal my push bike to london quicker than this!

I have no idea why the server is in dublin and im in the east of Scotland
