That's a very minimalistic OS you got there.
If that's how your desktop looks like... You should probably count how much time you've wasted by not having basic things on desktop... That's a lot of extra clicks.
I have pretty much everything I use more than once a month in the quick launch bar. Most games are launched via Xfire or Steam.
