Like HLTV, you could have a client that can be used to relay connections to the outside world. This would allow for a (bandwith promitting) a near infinite number of connections.

Also I would like to see the server be able to connect to more clients, such as 32. (What with the current F1 grid starting at 22, and that dose not include the safty car).
The thing with HLTV is... having tons and tons of people connect via spectator is all too easy for that system/game. Basically all there is to show is guys running, crouching, shooting, jumping.... and so on. There really is not very many updates for the server to handle other than those actions... it gets really simple.

LFS on the other hand does require more bandwidth for everyone connected, the udpates for the cars are very complicated. If we had a 3D spectator tool (in the game), we'd have to see a lot more calculations, such at suspension, tire pressure/heat/wear, damage, speed, steering, etc. I think this is why Scawen is hesitant to increase the amount of connections, because all those physics calculations can get hefty on average PC's.

This is how I interpret it at least. And if you use LFS Spectator tool, you will see that everything is very simplified and doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, it is just top-down movements and even in the program, not every car is super smooth.
